Orthodox6
For all of you in Hawaii and the Pacific region, I shall be praying for your areas' safety. I just read in news about the 8.8 earthquake in Chile, which has triggered tsunami warnings for the areas I mentioned. Agencies are urging people to take this very seriously. See news sources for better information than this.

Xuzi
There's a young man from my church serving as a missionary right now in Santiago. His mother must be beside herself this morning. :(

mom2abcd
I am praying here, too. I don't know how those small islands withstand tsunamis. I guess not all are as big as The One we're most familiar with.
Mrs Mungo
Tsunami warning sirens woke us up at 6 am. But, we aren't in the evacuation zone. Lots of planning and preparation going on here in Oahu.

razorbackmama
My dh arrived in Hawaii last night for a week of business.:glare: He is in the evac zone, but apparently since he's on the 19th floor of his hotel he doesn't have to. His boss is only on the 4th floor, so he'll probably have to come hang out in dh's room for a while LOL. Mrs. Mungo, do you know what time it's expected to arrive? Parrothead
Mrs. Mungo, do you know what time it's expected to arrive? I'm reading between 4 and 4:30 EST which is about 11-11:30 local time in Hawaii.

Between 11 and 11:30 am local time (it's 9:30 am right now). They started out at 11:30 but have pushed it up about 10 minutes based on readings from the buoys. A lot of our roads are closing at 10, so best for everyone to stay put. They are saying trying to evacuate all the hotels would cause total gridlock. Honolulu isn't set up for it. But, as long as they above the sixth floor it should be fine, according to the news. :grouphug:
C_l_e_0..Q_c
Oh my... I don't know how I could ever stand this! I'm pretty far away (like quite far away!) and just knowing that in an hour or so, people will have to fight the elements to survive stresses me! I just keep imagining the worst... :grouphug:
