Spanish.. a light, self taught intro for 9 yo

We are dipping our toes in MFL. Still focussing on Latin, but want to get that second language " in their ears" before puperty.

 

Suggestions for an introductory course?

Must be self taught. maybe with videos, or audio, a bit of work book?

 

Something between fluff and rigorous.

You could try Getting Started with Spanish. It has audio files you can download.

I just started using LiveMocha with ds. It is an internet site with various language courses available. It is self taught as he can do the lessons at his own pace when he is ready, and he can do them as many times as he wants. It's also free!

 

I sit with ds when he does it because he is young and I don't want him on the net by himself yet.

I hadn't thought of Getting Started, I kinda like Getting Started in ( or with) Latin. After all he uses the little appreciated 2nd person plural that we have in English , y'all.

 

And we could make a cd of the files.

 

I have just gotten on Discovery Education streaming and there is a public television series for Spanish, . It' willl just take some organizing. It even has some supplimentary materials.
