homeschoolally
It rarely snows where we live so we don't have any special 'snowplay' clothes. I think I can improvise with everything but the shoes. Besides extra socks and maybe covering them with plastic bags, are there any other ways I can make his tennis shoes more suitable for playing in the snow? Thanks so much for any input. I googled it but didn't have any luck!
JoyfulMama
I know many folks who years ago used plastic bread bags for their feet.

MeanestMomInMidwest
when we were young, we used that water repellent spray on our jeans and shoes because we didn't have any snowpants/boots.
Margo out of lurking
I'd slip on heavy adult socks over your child's tennis shoes before covering with plastic bags. Have fun! We're under a big storm watch too, not used to snow like this here.
Prudent
I know many folks who years ago used plastic bread bags for their feet. This is what we did when I was a kid. Shake out a bread bag, put it on over the shoe and use a rubber band to secure it to the lower calf.
Truscifi
My mom made me where plastic bags over my socks but inside my shoes once every 2-3 years when it snowed. She also put plastic bags over my gloves but under mittens. In the interests of full disclosure, I should probably say I hated this practice and took the bags off as soon as I was out of her sight. :tongue_smilie:
homeschoolally
He is out with breadbags over and under his shoes! Wish we had some water repellent spray--that is a great idea. =)

muffinmom
we used ziplocs and a rubber band to hold it on...ziplocs are thicker (as in gallon freezer bags) and hopefully more water-repellent.
