Guest 4boys
...do you require all their written work to be done in cursive? Or just some of it? Just thinking ahead.
AngelaNYC
Once ds learned cursive, I let him decide whether he wanted to use it or not. He seems to use an even amount of both now.
tdeveson
I require that all completed work have proper spelling, capitalization, grammar, and word usage. It's up to ds if he works in cursive of manuscript. (He prefers cursive.) We, as adults, often choose to do our work in one or the other, depending on content and context. MyLittleWonders
I let ds#1 decide as well. Sometimes I try and encourage him to use printing only because he does everything in cursive and I don't want his printing to get too rusty. ;) But, it's his choice (though I think I'm going to start having him print when we do maps for history - I've never seen a map with cursive place-names :) ). Mom0012
I require some of my son's regular assignments to be in cursive. Otherwise, he would never become fluent and I'm sure he'd forget it. Lisa
mamato3 all-boy boys
I've done the same thing....there are, however, times when I allowed him to print, but mainly, it is all cursive, all the time.
abbeyej
Just some. For a while, I think I pushed for "most" as ds was gaining fluency. But now I just require turned in "papers" in cursive. Dd is still learning, but I can see following a similar pattern with her...
Whereneverever
All work in cursive right away to really cement it. After that, by preference.
