helena
Does anyone have one? I'm not finding much online, or in my cookbooks. thanks :)
kalanamak
Does anyone have one? I'm not finding much online, or in my cookbooks.thanks :) I think this would be very, very hard without eggs. Probably taste awful. How about a shoo fly pie (they come in "dry bottom" and "wet bottom" styles....I mean wet bottom) with light molasses and pecans added? JoyfulMama
I do a non-dairy pecan pie, but I still use eggs. Shoo fly pies are yummy (and easy), but I've never had one with any kind of nut. (Family here is pretty traditionally PA Deutch-y.)

helena
I haven't tried this one but it has quite a few rave reviews.http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=26120.0 I think I'm going to try 2 different approaches. (pies :D) I'll try this one, and one that uses flax seed/rice syrup type ingredients. I've been putting off trying pecan pie for a long time, I just want to solve this vegan mystery. If neither are very good, I can just let it go and move on to other seemingly impossible vegan recipes. The sad thing is, just because there's a recipe, doesn't mean it "works", if you know what I mean :tongue_smilie: thanks for the link I'll check back in tomorrow with an update. Any other thoughts out there?

I had to look up this pie, I've never heard of it. I know my husband would be interested in trying it. Tina
Here you go: http://gnowfglins.com/2006/11/21/pumpkin-pie-dairy-free-egg-free/ Oops. Thought you said pumpkin pie. Sorry!
helena
well.... the pies are done, but I'm not sure they worked. The pumpkin pie looks wet, and the pecan pie looks dry  I don't mind though, I've already decided that they are delicious, because I'm not doing any more Thanksgiving baking, and a slice of anything is good with a cup of tea. :) Hope you all had good luck with your baking today? Wow it's 1:30 in the morning, yikes Happy Thanksgiving!
