Anyone who is enjoying the WTM recommended 7-8 Level history spine History: The Definitive Visual Guide will want to give DK's new science spine a look.

Same format. A well done history of science IMO. A very informative guide if one of your goals in educating is to help student understand that governments, culture, industry, etc often drive scientific exploration and vice versa. I especially appreciate the timelines that keep occurring throughout as well as the "Before" and "After" sections that go with the two-page spreads.

Certainly a good title to grab from the library after the child has spent a while studying biology, chem, space/earth, and physics in isolation. A text to connect the dots that will march right along with the time period that you are studying.

Science: The Definitive Visual Guide

ISBN 978-0756655709

Janice

Janice, thank you. We have both of the Definitive Visual guides for History and Art. They have been very helpful resources. They look good on the coffee table too. Or they would if they weren't covered by ten other books and assorted papers.:D

Rats. I tried to find this in our library, but it's not there. Maybe I'll ask them to order it in. Thanks for the recommendation - I've heard raves about the history one!
