MelanieM
I was so excited when I heard about this! Dr. Willard S. Boyle won the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physics for the co-invention of the charge coupled device. He was homeschooled by his mother until he reached high school. :D

MelanieM
I sure would like to know what he used for his logic stage science curriculum! LOL! No kidding! Apparently he was encouraged to read lots of great books, so that's putting us all on the right track! :)
KidsHappen
It's so good to hear some good stories every now and then. It seems like we get a disproportionate amount of negative publicity.
Rebecca VA
Canada...1924...guided reading...that reminds me of "Rilla of Ingleside," when Anne (formerly of Green Gables) puts Rilla through a course of reading books because Rilla doesn't want to go off to college. Same time period, too.
Jen in PA
It's so good to hear some good stories every now and then. It seems like we get a disproportionate amount of negative publicity. I just commented to my DH the other day that the only homeschoolers who make the news seem to be a) crazy, b) abusive, or c) spelling bee champions. I could use more Nobel prize winners to add to that list!
