KatieJ
Our friends daughter and family are moving out of state due to a job loss. They are having a going away party on Sunday afternoon..and I have offered to help out with some baking for it. I am wondering are gifts expected/required? And if so, what on earth do you give them? They will be living with in-laws while their house back here sells, so they don't need more "stuff". What says the Hive???
mommaduck
Not required, but a gift card to a store like WM would be nice. They could then buy groceries, diapers (if they have babies), shoes, or what not as the needs arise.
dcjlkplus3
If you are close to the family leaving then I would make some kind of photo gift. Like an album or a special old picture nicely framed, or something along those lines - something will remind them of the good memories you shared while they were "here". KatieJ
Any other thoughts? The family moving is a young family, more my daughter's age and friend more than mine. And her Mom is a CM consultant..pictures and albums are what they do so I am not going to do that idea, as nice as it is.
lgm
Any local products that they could take? From NY, I'd probably give them a bag of apples from a nearby orchard that they could enjoy on the ride and maybe share with their hosts. Carrie12345
When I was younger, I always gave pretty stationery to friends who moved away so we could keep in touch. I suppose it may seem relatively silly these days with email and all. Or it could be sweet and quaint!
JoyfulMama
When we moved, a friend took a pic of our house, and stuck it in a frame for us (nothing $$$). Others gave us gift cards, others gave us a little trinket reminiscent of the area we were moving from.
