1GirlTwinBoys
Any craft ideas or suggestions for K & 1st grade would be great. :) My kid's have chosen this topic so I already have a bunch of library books reserved. Some hands on activities would be fun.
Ellie
Sometimes when you get started reading about something, all sorts of ideas just sort of pop into your head, and there might be some very interesting rabbit trails. :-) Off the top of my head: You could make a salt-dough map and show where different kind of deer live. You could talk about the difference between antlers and horns (deer have antlers) and maybe make some antlers (paper towel tubes??). Maybe there's a natural history museum in your community, and you could go there for a field trip. You could learn the difference between deer, elk, reindeer, moose, and other antlered critters. You could make cute reindeer ornaments for Christmas....
Sue G in PA
HOAC has a lapbook about Deer. It was a quarterly freebie a few months back. If I downloaded it, I'll be happy to forward it to you (I think that would be okay since it was a freebie and I didn't pay for it). I'll check and get back to you.
