Harriet Vane
Hi folks, Have you seen Dan in Real Life? If you haven't seen it, it's wonderful. It's clean and funny and well done all around. At one point the brothers sing a really hilarious song about Dan's blind date, Ruthie "Pig Face" Draper. They make up words and fit them into a popular song. You must help me--neither dh nor I can think of what the original song is. I keep singing Ruthie-Pigface-Draper and wishing I could remember the song it came from!! Anyone know? Please? Thanks! Hillary in KS
I found lyrics on this site, but I can't copy/paste them. http://www.rhapsody.com/album/dan-in-real-life-original-motion-picture-soundtrack/ruthie-pigface-draper/lyrics.html
Harriet Vane
I found lyrics on this site, but I can't copy/paste them. http://www.rhapsody.com/album/dan-in-real-life-original-motion-picture-soundtrack/ruthie-pigface-draper/lyrics.html I listened, and that doesn't seem right. I tried listening to the song on Youtube, and all I've come up with a country-western songs that don't seem to match what is on the movie.
Hillary in KS
Yes, it looks like the movie clips have been removed from YouTube. This is the only thing I could find with lyrics. Maybe someone out there has the movie?
Hillary in KS
I found this: "The song itself was written by Norbert Leo Butz and Dane Cook, but the actual sheet music for the Piano part is unavailable as of this moment."
nmoira
The IMDB listing has: "Ruthie Pigface Draper" Written by Norbert Leo Butz and Dane Cook Performed by Dane Cook and Norbert Leo Butz Here's a vid. It sounds rather generic to me.
Alison in KY
It sounds familiar to me. Is it something by Elton John?
Ibbygirl
It sounds to me like they are just repeating the same chords over and over.
Harriet Vane
It sounds to me like they are just repeating the same chords over and over. It's the same chords, but the tune they sing sounds like something else I have heard. I thought it might be "Against The Wind" but when dh and I listened on YouTube that didn't seem right either. Hillary in KS
In the movie it's supposed to be something they made up on the spot and were improvising the lyrics. So the music wouldn't be complex or an actual song. Butz is just vamping on the piano. It sounds familiar, but I think it does in the way that it's just some simple chords and some guys messing around. Thanks for the clip! I hadn't remembered the song from the movie at all. :)
Alison in KY
This is still driving me crazy, so I wanted to bump it up. I still think this tune sounds so familiar...like it's a real song that they changed the lyrics to. Anyone, anyone??
OnTheBrink
It SORT of sounds like the Beatles, "Let It Be" but not the melody, if that makes sense.

It's a standard chord progression, one you've heard dozens if not hundreds of times in very familiar songs.
