Mommy7
go away? I am sensitive to chemicals and my husband commented that vinyl in particular may not air out. What has your experience been? Strange question, I know....:D
ELaurie
If so, I don't remember that the letters had a noticeably strong smell.
3lilreds in NC
I have a pretty sensitive nose, and I don't remember any strong smells from those at all. I think you'll be OK.
Melissa in Australia
I have never seen these particular things. but, my husband has chemical sensitivity. he cannot tolerate any vinyl. It has chemicals in it to keep it flexible that out gas for years.
Mommy7
Thank you for the responses. Not sure what to do. I really like that all the letters are the same color. Does anyone know of a similar product made of something else? I looked at a ton of foam magnetic letters online, but it seems like the different color letters could be distracting because I'll be using it for learning to read. If something has a ton of dye in it , that could be a problem too. Sometimes the dye in certain new books bother me. Any other thoughts? We have 'Alpha Megnets' and I have not noticed any smell from them. We have had them for 3-4 yrs though so..... They are blue for cons. and red for vowels. I purchased them at our parent/teacher outlet. These are marked $6.99 for 42 pieces. If you are interested and can't find them send me a pm and I will try to help. I could always purchase them from our store and ship or come to think of it they will ship. Let me know if I can help.
mom4him
I wanted to add that you have to remember that just because you can't smell something doesn't mean they are not emitting chemicals into the air. This has gotten me into trouble more than once.
ELaurie
They're sturdy, and have a clear coating of some sort (not sure about the out gassing question) but they have no smell at all. Check the link for AAS in my signature line :001_smile:
