Is it normal to be lethargic while on antibiotics?

Recommended Posts

My child has been on antibiotics for 5 days now (for strep). She is always laying around, has absolutely no energy. We caught the strep early, so I do not believe her lethargy has to do with the strep. She is eating okay... just laying around in between meals. Normal?

That's not really typical for amoxicillin. Did they check her for mono too?

Sometimes antibiotics can cause a secondary yeast infection that wipes you out. Probiotics such as natural yogurt help to balance this out. If it's worse when he eats sugar, that's your clue that it could be yeast-related.

Talk to your doctor, and give him yogurt anyway -- it's a good idea regardless.
