praisefor3
It's just for our family - not to take anywhere. But will it still work???
TxMama
You can use any cake mix. Our favorite is chocolate!
In The Great White North
We love gooey butter cake! And I've never met anyone else who made it. I once made it with the 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 cake recipe I found here, and it worked. (It was a little heavier but tasted great.) We do, however, prefer the yellow cake mix to the chocolate, but white should taste just like it.
Jami
Man, did you *have* to mention gooey butter cake? I miss St. Louis for many reasons, gooey butter cake being available at most social functions being one of them. ;)
SonshineLearner
No fair..you MUST share:-) Pretty please! What is gooey butter cake?? And chocolate sounds like just what I need right now! Carrie
In The Great White North
From the West Point Officer's Wives Club Cookbook: In the bottom of a 9 x 13 (glass) pan, mix well: 1 stick melted butter 1 box yellow cake mix 2 eggs Mix (in mixer): 1 box powdered sugar 1 stick cream cheese 2 eggs Pour on top of cake mixture. Bake at 350 for 1 hour (almost) Cake will be gooey, so don't expect a knife or toothpick to come out clean when testing.
jacqui in mo
You know, Schnucks has gooey butter cake cookies now. They are even better than the cake!
In The Great White North
What's Schnuck's?
Jami
You know, Schnucks has gooey butter cake cookies now. They are even better than the cake! St. Louis Bread Company has gooey butter danishes that are AWESOME. I wish the national chain Panera had them. But alas, my TX Panera does not. ;)
Jami
What's Schnuck's? It's a St. Louis-based grocery store. I think probably only located in Missouri and East Illinois. Just a family-owned chain rather than a larger national one.
