  1. A bear was seen just one mile down the road earlier this summer. So it probably was just a bear. DH was out this evening and saw something big moving & loud moving through the woods too. He was looking for something because of dd's experience. He thought it might be a bear. Guess we'll keep the kids out of the woods for a while. I hope it isn't making it's winter's nest here. It is supposed to snow tomorrow night.
  2. DD did say, "Well it didn't stink so it can't be Sasquatch." :D They think they saw it again this evening.
  3. DD 13 came back to from her solo nature walk really freaked out. She went way up our hill, across the hayfield and into the woods up there alone for a walk. She said she was standing there looking at some cool tree stump when she heard someone/thing thumping through the woods. She looked up, saw something dark and tall ---looked like a person or a bear standing up--- she thought it was me and called out to me. It kept walking away from her with heavy ponderous (HS kids and their vocab :D ) steps. She then remembered the bear that's was spotted at Gma's 1 mile down the road earlier this summer and she ran home. I went back with her because I thought at first the BIG animal-like thing was one of our horses who'd figured out the electrical tape holding them in the pasture wasn't electrified. :D That's when she kept going on about it walking on two feet. And that it was really tall. Dark. And BIG. Now they're wondering how long a bear can walk on two feet. What do you think it was? We're in the Midwest US.
  4. So the ship you choose is important? Which ships, how do you pick?
  5. When you pick your room.....midship, front, or back? Or just let them pick it for you? Interior room's are a good choice for first timers who don't know if they'll be sea sick or not?
  6. That looks like fun! We do have some mileage we could use for a ticket, I think.
  7. $1,000 - $1,500 Warm. 7 days - specifically Dec. 2rd - 8th I'd love to do some of the adventures I saw on one cruise ship--ATV riding through a forest at one of the Caribbean ports of call. Off-road motorcycles were the common interest we shared back in our dating days. It's evolved more to ATVs in our old age. It would be fun to do that again together some where new. Time to do nothing is good too.
  8. For that age our coach recommends 2-3 practices weekly. Yes, an hour is a long time. It's the best "bang for our buck" PE option. I'm glad my girls wanted to do it again. Toward the end of the season you'll know if you should do fewer or more practices because your dd enthusiasm will either wax or increase. Take your cue from her.
  9. What cruise line do you recommend? How expensive are those "port of call" adventures? I was looking at one in the Carribbean that had horse back riding to Mayan ruins, snubba, ATV rides through the S. American forest...... Those have to be expensive! I need a reality check. Are meal included in the price or is that extra too. Thanks.
  10. Have an agent working on a quote for the Disney option. I'm curious what they're going to come back with. :D
  11. We're not good at the romantic anniversary stuff. DH's really most comfortable with the staycation. And that fits in really well with the whole month of December when something important, like a family Christmas party, is always scheduled over our anniversary date. But it's our 20th this December and maybe we'll try something new this year. It's up to me to offer a couple options to choose from. I've thought of a cruise.........but let me say that I have no idea which destination, cruise line, or how to get affordable flights from the midwest to the coast. Suggestions if you've done a cruise, thanks! Or maybe a trip to Arizona or Las Vegas? A complete loss......... We went to Sanibel Island once. It's a possiblity too, but is it too cold in December? Disney Land, but how to make that affordable? It would be nice to go somewhere warm, beach isn't necessary. But the entertainment provided is preferable. We tend to crash on vacation and then it doesn't make sense to do that away from home, right?
  12. No important decisions after 10 p.m. It a tired, emotional, and unproductive hour.
  13. DH has a couple bath sheets. That's his fav. too. I could use a hand towel and be happy.
  14. I n t e r e s t i n g thought, color blindness. I think you're onto something here. I know one of them is....can't remember which, DH is and I need to remember which colors, ...... I think you've given me a solution to a :banghead:. And I know which kid to start with too.
  15. My littles bath as needed. Recently that's daily. But usually it's weekly. :D Depends on the weather and mud.
  16. That's where I am leaning, but I'm worried that they'll get yucky quicker. I suppose bleach would handle that. :001_smile:
  17. Since we're all caught up on laundry today. AND I brought out all the cold weather clothing. AND purged 4 garbage bags of clothing, I don't know how they got here.....yes I do. My sister dropped off bags of hand-me-downs recently. :D We're washing bedding today!!!! Yay. :001_smile: I am pleading the 5th on when the last change out was for some of my older children. This means my 13 yo is going to have to unload her teddy bear buddies from her bed....trauma. :001_huh:
  18. "Family of 7 drowns in towels. . . " Yup, that's us. Yesterday's drama led to Mama's towel rage last night. We have a color-coded system that wasn't working. Everyone just used whatever. BUT with everyone doing their own laundry, why not try it again? Of course it only took me 3 loads of towels to realize someone is using 2 or 3 each time...... Thankfully they're only showering every 3rd day......but that's another post. We have: green, ds 7 yellow, dd 5 pink, dd 11 purple, dd 13 light blue, ds 9 navy blue, DH 40 and the assorted colors of the 20 year old wedding-gift-towels, mine :glare: I AM going to be getting myself a pretty set/color from JCP. Any color suggestions? White, linen, or Orange? It needs to say, "This is your Momma's towel!" :D
  19. Stay strong mama! I found the floor in my laundry room yesterday evening. Yes, it took all day constant 30 minute loads to get the kids through, my own, and finally the towels. Towels...... that's another post. :D
  20. Yes, it will be an honor to one day be their friend. Right now, parenting!
  21.:lol: Aw, she's just giving you a pre-teen dead-pan look so you'll break. Keep it up. How many loads a week would you need to go down and watch while she does it "to make sure it's done right?" It's like a staring contest, but with the washing machines. Don't break her gaze! One of mine tried that today..... but then she had to practice on my laundry and the babies. :tongue_smilie: It really wasn't on her list of things to do so she figured it out quick.
