  1. I'm curious about the visits too. She has referred to several visits and implies that each time all of the children are there. Is that feasible or normally the ay it works? First just the logistics of it seem unrealistic. The kids from all accounts are with 4 different families. Do the families just get told 'be here on X day and X time' and all 4 families have to show up? Do Nicole and Joe get to dictate that? I would assume these families have schedules and commitments as well. Plus I have to wonder why Nicole and Joe would be allowed what seems like a lot of visits to me. It seems like at least 4 in the last month. How can the kids have any kind of stability if they keep seeing Nicole and Joe regularly? I guess I've always been under the impression that when a court takes kids away there is a time of complete separation while the kids needs are dealt with and the parents start working on their issues before a visit would happen let alone what seems almost like weekly visits. Is that not the case?
  2. I know this is a serious issue but this made me LOL!!
  3. Oh ok. I was thinking that because the law said they could do the exemption that meant the daycare had to honor it. Public school is different but that would be really tough for a private daycare. Not to mention that would be a huge pendulum swing from forcing private daycare to accept unvaxed kids to the strictest 'must vaccinate' law in the county :-). I actually don't know what the daycare law is in VA where I live. We do have a religious exemption. I do know that daycares do not allow those exemptions. At least not the ones I've dealt with over the years. I was at my daughter's daycare one day when a woman was having a complete meltdown because her child had been removed because they wouldn't comply with the vax rules. That was a long time ago but I don't think it's changed. We have a medical exemptions too but kids with medical issues significant enough to warrant no vaccines are rarely in day care with a bunch of toddlers.
  4. Wait - CA law, prior to today, allowed people to use a 'personal preference etc" type exemption for day care? Not just public school?
  5. Start with those that require several doses. They take longer to complete and have minimum amounts of time between each dose.
  6. The Naugler report says July 13.
  7. We use Best Bus Academy and Bolt Bus. We had a not as great experience on MegaBus last time.
  8. I am so very sorry. I will continue to pray for your family. ((((HUGS)))
  9. Anyone have a good online dual enrollment option for Calc 1? The place we take dual enrollment doesn't currently do Calc 1 online and we are not local. They are supposed to add the class soon but I'd rather know for sure we are going to get it done. Our community college is $750 plus $400 for the book which is really more than I want to pay. She's doing it at home on her own right now but we'd like to have it on our dual enrollment list. Anyone have a recommendation that is under $1200? Thanks
  10. This is so upsetting. I know that kids who grow up on farms experience the realities of animal butchering young but I suspect that most of them have parents who guide them through the experience and choose an age appropriate time to let them see the actual event. But nope... Joe and Nicole think that letting the kids hack apart a goat without supervision is a good plan. Guess that's their version of unschooling anatomy lessons. I am so sad that these kids will be forced to live lives crippled by these selfish morons and their physical, emotional and educational neglect.
  11. I have a question about the 'dogs eating rabbits' thing. I completely recoil at the idea of the dogs ripping apart the rabbits but on the other hand, I know the meat at my grocery store didn't just arrive. It used to be alive too. But then I watched the video of her dog and cat cuddling together. So if the dog gets used to having to kill it's dinner what will keep it from eating the cat? And if it's not a dog that currently kills it's dinner will it learn to do so? Most domestic animals don't really have that instinct anymore. Or would it have to be starving to death before it would attack?
  12. I've decided that today I'm not feeling sorry for Nicole. Maybe I'm having a cynical day. The picture on her on her FB page "pregnant and at work' made me want to gag. She's clearly sticking her stomach way out in a calculated move to have us say 'oh poor woman - pregnant and working so hard'. Sorry lady.
  13. I agree. I don't necessarily feel sorry for her but I do think she has mental health issues that prevent her from seeing the reality that she isn't getting her kids back any time soon, if ever. In other words, I do believe she's a con artist and a narcissist. But I also don't think she's making a fully conscience decision to sacrifice her kids in favor of a con. I do think that's the outcome but I think she's mentally messed up enough that she thinks she can do both - con and have her kids. Joe I think is full fledged con man. I'm not sure he's as into the kids and would be fine walking away without them if it means having the 45k and avoiding potential criminal charges. I am slowly changing my view on their motivations as well. I used to think that they, or at least Nicole, was choosing ideology over her kids. Now I think it's more about choosing an ideology that in her mind will garner the most sympathy, attention and support. That's what she's really about - the adoring fans and the money and attention they bring.
  14. I don't use Teaching Textbooks but last year I asked them about it because we were looking at all the pre-Calc options. They told me they were working on it but it wasn't a priority because the market for Pre-Calc is much smaller than the other levels. I took what they said to mean if they get around to it they will finish but it isn't really on a front burner.
  15. Check out A Fresh Approach. I haven't used it yet but I took a long look at it. The explanations are clear and the book is uncluttered. My daughter who dislikes math has asked to use it when we get to Algebra (we are in pre-Algebra now) because she understood it well.
  16. Maybe she took the FB page down to take the time to load all of the promised pictures of the extensive improvements to the homestead.
  17. So she pulled it down so we would all say 'she took down her FB page.' Crap. I fell into that one.
  18. Interesting... the Blessed FB page seems to be gone.
  19. I had to stop rolling my eyes. This stuff made my eyes roll so hard I nearly tipped over.
  20. Oh my goodness. I can't stop laughing.
  21. Don't rabbits also eat fresh veggies? That cage just looks so uncomfortable. Don't they want grass to crawl in too?
  22. I was just coming here to post this. I did a google search too and that is what I saw as well. Several places I read gave tips on how to feed because it's messy. Just what they need, another messy and expensive unnecessary venture. Poop and rabbit blood/guts. That is exactly what those kids should be living in.
  23. This is starting to sound like 'There was an old woman who swallowed the fly'... maybe Jacob wrote that too. :-)
  24. Very true. I think the supporters are caught up with the idea of the 'wrongly accused' and protecting them. I can't decide if they are really believe that everything is fine because everyone should be able to do whatever they want or if they are just so blinded by their 'wrongly accused' dogma that they really don't see what's going on here.
