  1. Ag is a great program. Your sixth graders will not have a problem. My 5th and 7th grader did all three session this year and it was not a problem. My 5th grader actually had not problems at all and I was worried because we were doing all 3 sessions. I love the program. It is was great for building understanding and knowledge:-)
  2. I standardize test bexause I want to see their progression adn weaknesses. I changed Math this past year and saw a wonderful inprovment in my daughters scores. She actuallt mastered her level. SHe was weak in spelling... phonics.. which I already knew from a previous private school mistake. Thia has slowly been improving over the years. I am most interested in the reading, language and math and listening scores. I have used it to adjust my curriculum. Especially if a weakness persists. Good luck and don't beat your self up on this. As a homeschool mom you are giving them an awesome education. Monica:001_smile:
  3. I love all the input and thoughts. We are currrently sing writeshop... However, I am not sure which writing program is the best to have them prepared for writing in college and the admit test ACT/SAT for college. Trying to figure the best direction to go with my girls. I would love to continue to hear input from others. Does IEW take a more indepth walk into essay and research paper writing? Thanks Monica
  4. What ages is this for? I feel sponge bob would be a little young. Is Mavis Beacon's geared for Middle school?
  5. Wait til 18. I graduate at 17. There is no need to push it. I even left for college 2 days after my 18th birthday. I would have been better to have had another year of maturity.:)
  6. So Sorry, to hear that. I love it and it has been such a blessing. I will pray for you and your oldest.
  7. Has any one used both Write shop and IEW. We currently use write hsop and I would like to hear the pro anc cons of both. Especially if you have experience with both.
  8. I am using AG for my fifth grader also. My seventh grader is also doing AG this year. WOuld love to hear how it goes for you also.:)
  9. I go by age. My ds is an excelerated learner, however I do not believe in cheating a child of their age. They have one year to be each and every age that they are. Make the most of it....they need to grow, mature and develop their character and minds. Each age has milestones to develop through. There is not rush. Once and adult always an adult. Save college for 18.... They can always take dual credit while in highschool. No need to hurry them along. My ds is a fifth grader doing mostly sixth grade work because she was not challenged. However at church she socializes with the fifth graders. Her age group. Good Luck
  10. MIne has been a living room... never used it..... Currently a sitting room for reading.. gets used more often and playing board games. We also convert it over the holidays as another dining area because it is acroos from the dining room ..... Yes, large family.
  11. We use the Apologia.. General Science and Physical Science. She loves it. However, she is a science lover.
  12. I am looking for opinion on successful keyboarding programs. My girls have some computer knowledge... sometimes more then me. HOwever, I would like to expanded their typing skills. Has anyone used a program that they loved and recommend. Which ones to stay away from. Thanks, Monica 7th and 5th graders
  13. I question the same thing. However, If I need it for a younger sibling is keep it. If not I sale it. I am not sure what is the right answer. I just sale things to make room for new items. the attic is a great idea but not in South Texas. The heat ruins alot of things. I am a purger. I think it is a matter of what is comfortable for you.:)
  14. My daughter was extemely in secure and week in her math. We did Chalkdust Basic Math and are doing Pre Alg. Her standardized test scores were out of sight this year. I am all about Chalkdust. She now has confidence and doesn't whine when doing math. She loves Uncle Buck.
  15. WOW! to begin....... I have received a shotgun and I do not hunt.... a breifcase and I do not use one or need one.... grandma looking decor... I have a Texas Hill Country home. I am drawing a blank. I usually donate the items. I always wonder if I received a regift.....???????? :glare: Especially when they look nothing like me.
