  1. Hello, I am seriously contemplating purchasing this along with the Junior notebook and experiment kit as well. I'm wondering, if you've gone through this book along with the experiments and/or journal, what did you think of it? Were the experiments well done? Did your child enjoy/learn from this course? I would do this with my soon-to-be 8 year old dd. Thank you!
  2. I've just started looking into Keepers of the Faith (KotF) as we also won't be sending our dd to Awana because of a time issue. I'm still getting to know KotF but, I did notice they have a large set of character books, 18 different books, I believe. They also have a paper catalog with tons of stuff in there. http://www.keepersofthefaith.com
  3. Thanks, Lynnita! Did you begin with Essentials A or B, if I may ask? I looked at the samples of A and it looks very basic, wondering if B might be a better place to start. Thanks for any info.
  4. Hello, I've got both SM Essentials and Miquon on my radar for my bright, little gal. I am wondering if I should go with one or the other, or if I should just go ahead and do both together at this point? Thanks for any thoughts/experiences.
  5. I've read that the Standards HIG is much improved as compared to the U.S. HIG. Can someone tell me specifically what those improvements are? Thank you.
  6. Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions! I'm still sorting through them. If anyone else wants to add, that would be great.
  7. Thanks very much, I look forward to checking these out!
  8. Hi, Looking for suggestions for logic/critical thinking workbooks for a soon to be 8 year old. Thank you!
  9. Yes, they are having problems. There is some chatter about it over on the SL Facebook page.
  10. Maybe you could add in Explode the Code along with your AAR 1 to stretch the program out until AAR Level 2 is ready?
  11. Great, thank you Melissa and Wabi Sabi, good to know this.
  12. Marie, Thanks very much for your input on this. My feeling was that starting at the beginning with Miquon would be the best approach, thank you for confirming this. Glad to hear your SM/Miquon combo is proving to be very beneficial. I'll talk with you soon : )
  13. Thank you! And thank you jar7709 thank you for the Alphabet book recommendation.
  14. I'd be interested to learn this as well as I have a 2nd grader and a 4 year old also. It might be nice to have them both using the Miquon, if possible, at least in part. Also, if they both did Orange, would each need their own Orange book? Thank you.
  15. Excellent, I will definitely print this out! Thanks, nansk and KristenR.
  16. Hello, I am wanting to purchase a good C-Rod book to use with my 4 year old, looking for suggestions. I saw this one, wondering if anyone has opinions about it or could recommend another... http://www.christianbook.com/idea-book-cuisenaire-rods-primary-level/9781569117484/pd/7357538?event=CBNETP#curr Also, thinking of possibly using Miquon Orange with her some time soon, and wondered if it is suggested for use with a 4.5 year old. I'm attracted to the discovery oriented approach for her and think it will fit her beautifully---from what I can tell. Thank you!
  17. I agree that you should feel confident that what you will be gaining from the co-op is more valuable than what you will be giving up in return. I am finding that time at home is very valuable when needing to accomplish our priorities at home. Sounds like an obvious statement, but I have found through experience that a lot of the outside stuff/co-op stuff turns out to be a lot of fluff when I had thought it would be enriching for my kids. At one time my daughter participated in a MOH co-op and I felt it was worth the time as she was learning valuable stuff and gaining skills. As of now we have opportunities available as far as co-op stuff and I am not participating because I don't think the trade-off is worth it.
  18. I hope it is okay to jump in here... Bill, this makes a lot of sense, thank you. I see what you mean by the child needing to be able to explain her method. What is the best way to focus on/practice re-grouping skills, in your opinion/experience? Thank you.
