  1. The lessons included with the kindergarten are before the 1st year Christian studies. It is set up so I can buy just the Kindergarten Christian studies and not ghe whole teacher plans for kinder. Just wondering what the Bible section includes. But being digital is only 3 dollars it might be worth it to just buy it and see.
  2. I can't find a sample on the site. It looks likethere is a guide just for the Christian studies. Anyone use this? What is it like?
  3. Thanks for the thoughts. I will have to think through these.
  4. I have looked at RLTL and like that everything is there, but I really dont think I want to combine handwriting skills with reading. And I just struggle with if spelling is the best place to start. I enjoy Charlotte Masons thoughts on teaching reading it just seems like a lot of work for me ;) I know part of teaching..... I have also thought of LOE or at least the games would be a hit here we like games.
  5. We have the McGuffey primer maybe I could just use that as a base. We have done letter sounds but have not started blends yet. Does Noah Websters Handbook have a lot of helps? It seems like something I would like but I havent seen it.
  6. I have looked around here for teachers but the prices are crazy high (we live overseas) if I could find someone for 20 I would do it! Thanks for the thoughts on the difficulties. It probably would be hard to have time with no distractions. I already was worried about my expectations.....
  7. The free part is what is making me consider it ;)
  8. What could be some downsides to doing a preschool then homeschooling? Does it make it difficult for kids to stay home then? Any issues with the change? We have an option to do preschool where the local language can be worked on as well as a third language, but want to think things through.
  9. Anyone just not like any options for learning to read curriculum and do it all yourself? Or piece stuff together? What did you do?
  10. Anyone teach their own children piano when your own skills are not excellent? What books are good? Or is it best to just hire a teacher?
  11. CLP History for Little Pilgrims sounds like what you are asking for
  12. Wondering who has been to Munich before and can help. I am looking for wooden toys and waldorf supplies and need to know where I should be looking. Also in need of kitchen baking equipment anywhere to look for that? Thanks. Also any other must go shopping places are welcome.
  13. Depends on who you ask. After we have been years with no sugars we add in a cheat a few times a week
  14. Maybe a bit of a distracted kid then ;) I have one it can be a challenge. What helped in our home was literal hand holding with one direction for months.
  15. Sounds like a 4 year old to me. It sounds like you may be expecting too much with directions and reading. Even if a skill can be done once doesn't mean it doesn't require a lot of work again. (As I learn more languages this becomes so clear!) Most kids need directions split into one at a time. Reading is a challenge to the brain in all ways. Go slowly. Let her pick the pace.
  16. Thanks. It really helps to hear other families mornings.
  17. Thanks for the run down. I have been feeli g maybe I should be waking my son up at a regular time to help mornings flow better.
  18. Yes- I have one five year old. Starting k this fall.
  19. I need some ideas and revamp to our morning routine before we start up school. Looking specifically for what families do before starting lessons. Right now our days seem to not have any sameness from day to day. These are the things we try to do before school: Breakfast Family devotions Shower Make beds A chore A walk or yoga What do some of you try to accomplish before school? And do you stick to the same routine each day? Also- wondering what age do you wake your kids up in the morning or just let them sleep until they wake up on their own? We try to get morning stuff done and do a half hour of school. Then as a family we have language lessons at our home. Then I try a half hour of school again after that before lunch and rest time. I just feel like we don't have a good routine down and aren't getting done what we should. Or maybe my expectations are off....
  20. Runningmom80- awesome! I have just a one question- how long of a sessions should I aim for with a wiggly 5 year old boy? He is active and healthy.
  21. I need rec. for a yoga and meditation program to use with early elementary age that I could do as well. Not necessarily needing to be together. Even could be a guide to follow for meditation instead of cds. Looking for something Christian or at least neutral. Just feeling our day would be best started with some focus and stretching.
  22. So for Webster's Speller do you just need the speller and the guide from the other thread? Does that last with spelling too?
  23. I will have to look at Core Knowledge. I haven't seen that one. I looked at OPGTR before but maybe I should look again. It has a digital copy. It just seems to not always have good reviews. Although there are many that seem to love it.
  24. I am having a hard time picking a curriculum for phonics. I keep thinking I have it. I would prefer digital copies so I don't end up paying overseas shipping. I dont want curriculum tied to writing ability. What options are there?
