In regards to Matthew I think it's reminiscent of his character, it seemed as if it wasn't that he wanted die but he wanted to see Anne and Marilla taken care of. And as for his "love interest" shes little more than a friend he cared for when they were school children.

Has anyone used book 2? I was reading through the sample and it looks like Natalia and Hairo are Muslim? Does it turn into a conversion story?

Has anyone watched this on Netflix yet?? I just started and love it so far. It will probably be my escape this mothers day weekend (horrid mother situation). The books are some of my favorites, I'm on my second set since the original sale I was given as a child was loved very hard and now sits in my memory box. The show is a Netflix original and seems very well done so far.

Has anyone used the new 3rd edition? If so what do you think? Could we use just the readers, phonics review and reading worktext? Are all of the teachers guides necessary?

Can I get some reviews of SFC, and CAP products in general? I've been getting some very mixed reviews and haven't been able to find many current ones online

She has no siblings or anything to worry about. All of the reading will be shared reading and as I am not her parent she is very easy and well behaved for me (the whole not-the-mom phenomenon). I don't have to worry much about the cost and she takes bi-weekly library trips as well where she can pick anything she wants to read (and our library has unlimited check out). The point of the program is to challenge her reading wise and to create some pegs for when we start Story of the World.

My gut says she'd be equally happy in either program. Memoria press would simplify our day a bit but that's it.

For an advanced 5 year old (Reading, Social Studies and Science; Math and Language Arts are separate)- Option 1- Build your Library like program utilizing Magic Tree House books and Leveled readers- topics are organized into units with Science and History linked, each unit lasts 2 weeks (16 units total)- its a fairly reading heavy program. Option 2- Memoria Press Enrichment with her doing the reading and expand the vocabulary, history and science related to each book. My problem is I think she would like both and learn from both. She has great focus, loves reading and is fantastic at making connections.

True, I should have mentioned in the op that I had seen that thread but didn't want to resurrect a zombie thread.

Could we make a master list of free or low cost PDF curriculum? The minimalist/poverty threads have me thinking about a lot of things and I would like to have a good collection of PDF/printable curriculum as a backup if at all possible. I have things like MEP, Sound City Reading, Easy Peasy, and a large collection of vintage texts but I'm sure there are a lot of things I'm missing and could use.
