My 15 yr old is working through the Rod and Staff 8th grade book. She has been using this curriculum since 3rd grade. Yesterday we searched some ACT and SAT tests and looked at the grammar sections. She was very discouraged. She felt like all this grammar she has been doing should have been enough to answer most of the questions correct. Do you have any suggestions? I have thought about getting a grammar rules book and letting her read that and work through some kind of editing curriculum. Kathleen

Apologia General Science Lab worksheetsq
Mountainpatriot replied to busymama7's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
The only thing I have seen is the lapbook journal from Knowledge Box Central. It does have the lab worksheets already filled in with the supplies and procedure. http://site.knowledgeboxcentral.com/Samples/PS2Mod1Complete.pdf -
Past and present happy R&S math users, a couple of questions
Mountainpatriot replied to Nakia's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
On Ellie's recommendation, we began using R&S math when my oldest was in 3rd grade. If she finished the book early, we just moved into the next level. We did not take much time off from math. She finished the 8th grade book in 7th grade and started 8th grade with Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1. We will continue with R&S for the younger ones and use Teaching Textbooks for the high school math. Kathleen -

homeschooling high school in TN? Xpost
Mountainpatriot replied to Murphy101's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
This will be our first year homeschooling high school, but our 4th year homeschooling in TN. Dh and I do not have college degrees, so we use an umbrella cover school to teach our children. The one we use is not obtrusive at all, but very available to answer questions and address concerns. Kathleen -
This one is great and only $5.

My plan for world history was to divide it into a year and a half. I did not want to cram thousands of years of history into one year and since dd has not had much world history, I didn't feel like that would be overdoing it. I asked my cover school here in TN, if I could give her 1.5 credits for world history. The response was that "Even if a student takes longer to finish a course, she will still only get one credit for it." Maybe I didn't explain myself to her very well, I don't know. Has anyone successfully submitted a transcript to their TN cover school dividing world history into more than one credit (TOG, WTM, MFW)? I sent her an email back asking her if she was familiar with the classical model of education and explained that I could divide it into 2 years and give a different course description for each credit. I also sent links to the TOG website showing the course descriptions for 4 years of history. Kathleen

I am reading the WTM and it talks about scheduling time for free reading. Is this reading that is picked by the student and may or may not have anything to do with the history?

The price on this one is better than Amazon. Thanks for the links and the review. Kathleen -
If you bind your own notebooks, what system do you use? I have seen the ProClick. Any opinions on this? Kathleen
