I certainly want to get all I can to make his year successful! Thanks for all the help, guys

Do you mean do botany and the creatures books (I can't remember their names, but like "On the 5th Day" or something like that?)
Thanks for the suggestions.

she has had no problems - except one for her. She is pregnant! She was very diligent about taking them - she had been on them for years. Baby is due in Sept. What a shock for her!

i am looking at Life Science (gr. 7) and Grade 3 for my sons. What exactly do I need to order. If I look in Rainbow Resources, it makes it seem like you need to order each piece individually (for about$223 for Lfe and $125 for 3rd), but online on Home Science Tools, It makes it look like I only need to order the "Kit" and that is complete with everything I need. Please help me with exact items (and yes, I am planning to order the Lab materials - how fun!
Is there anywhere to order this less expensively? Thanks

What the heck is that?

We just finished up Apologia General Science. It was ok and I thought very thorough, but it was dry and very textbooky. What could I get for 7th that presents science in a more interesting/exciting way for my son? He is really into sciencey things.
Are considering BJU or Prentice Hall Science Explorers. ANy suggestions? Thanks (was going to go into Ap. Phys. Science for next year, but want to see if there are any better - he will definitely be college bound.)
-
Are there many science experiments with this program? I can't tell from their website. Is it reviewed anywhere? What makes you like it better than Apologia? Thanks. Also, what grade would you put a boy who is going into 7th and just finished Apologia General Science? And a 3rd grader? Thanks.

comfy couch to snuggle and read, all in one printer/copier, little plastic set of drawers on wheels (all crayons, colored pencils and markers and paper can be scooted between desks).
Our school room is a converted bedroom. We had yucky closet doors, and I covered them with white board, so now we have white closet doors we can write on - awesome!
Wall space for maps/etc. Covered storage space (we inherited a big white cabinet) It is awesome to hold stuff and it is covered up!
We also have yucky carpet. I am going to rip it up and install pergo-type floor and find a used electric/heater/fireplace to make it look nice and yet so we can still have warm feet!
Another must have for me - a door! You can close it in and forget about it!

We use it for not getting pregnant, but it is amazing how familiar you get with your body's cycles. I know exactly when to Not try if you know what I mean.
There is a very easy method - just watching your "m#c#s" and keeping track - no temperature, etc. VERY EASY! I have only done it for about a year with alot of kicking and protesting and I have been very happy with how easy it is.

I have Classical Writing Homer would this be too easy for "a very good in English" 7th grader?

nothing too in depth, just a good running timeline for their memory work!

How much do you figure I have ahead of me after that purchase? The core books I know i should have - any dollar figure you can throw out as an estimate after the bonus bundle and any extra goodies? Thanks

Airline pilots/personnel are having a very scary time of it right now. Our companies are facing terrible times and our wages are so low (husband's salary is as low as 1993). With our company CEO's and boards taking ridiculous wages and bonuses, they are running the companies into the ground.
I am thankful that they are finally charging fares that come closer to covering our costs. If something doesn't change radically and soon, you will be seeing fewer companies on which you may choose to fly. The good old days with SouthWest and JetBlue have run traditional companies with different cost structures into difficult times. I pray this will spare my husband's company.
Management doesn't seem to think that flying 300 passengers around and being responsible for all that they are responsible for is worth much, evidently. My niece who is 25 has a job running a bulldozer. She has no college degree, no person's life is in her hands. She makes only $40k less than my husband. My husband is college educated, 12 years as a fighter pilot in the Marine Corps and 11 years as a pilot for a major carrier!!!
anyway, sore subject, sorry!

Hi, two boys - 7th and 3rd.
7th grader will have completed Apologia's Exploring Creation with Gen. Science and I am looking to Phys. Sci. for fall. Will this be too much for him? He is enjoying Gen. Science, but I find it a bit dry. I will probably only have him at home through 8th and want to cover things well.
3rd Grader - I am looking at the new Nebel's course, Alpha-Omega LifePacks and am open to suggestion. We did Sonlight 2nd grade science this year - not crazy about it.
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

and a glazed look in her eye!) Just kidding.
But, I do want as much as I need to have a great year with 7th grade ds and 3rd grade ds. The bonus bundle is great, which add ons do I want? Thanks

We are starting with year 2. I know I've read not to over do it at first, what do you recommend that I make on my first order? Thanks.

I wonder if it is all this terrible weather in the mid=west. I am not a depressed personality type, but I tell you - if I didn't know better - I would say I am depressed! What gives?
I hope you feel better soon. Perhaps God puts these moments in our lives so that we appreciate when we do feel joy and can recognize it. Perhaps - but right now it sucks!! Good luck. I am up here at my computer, running away from my family. I'll be better tomorrow...I'll be better tomorrow...

I wear those spandex biker shorts with shorts over them. They do not crawl, plus my legs do not rub together then - if they do, it produces a painful rash.

After 3 months of being completely ripped up in our house, we finally get carpet!
To appreciate, we have a 1970's big, mod house, that was decorated circa 80's. Talking about decorating identity crisis! Well, we bought this big screen tv at Christmas, and put it in our big living room that we never frequent.
Well, long story short, we realized how UGLY it was, plus it had no overhead light. So began the process. What we have done in those 3 months...
Ripped down LR ceiling, installed 10 can lights, new ceiling
painted and painted and painted
2 pair new French doors (we're switching to painted woodwork from 70's uggo)
new banisters, spindles and wooden endcaps on stairs (3 stories worth!)
Did I mention the paint?????
Changed dining room and family room around, new chandelier, new paint jobs
New family room is actually dh's new office - very sharp!
Painted yds' room to ready for new carpet
Painted upstairs for new carpet
retiled the whole foyer and 1/2 bath
new closet/room doors
and drumroll, please!!! The carpet comes tomorrow!! That means we are almost done!! Thanks for the read, dh and I can hardly move right now. We've been working our "a#$es" off for those months and it will be really rewarding!

We are considering this for fall. We have used HWT for years, and we want a new look. Is this a doable program, and is it easy to implement? Thanks.
Any BJU Science people - questions...
