When we lived in the South, she would constantly bite and chew her feet and belly. Drove me nuts! We would get her a steroid shot - once in the spring and once in the fall- and it worked beautifully. We had to put her down at 14, though - there was a chance that she developed Cushings disease - a disease that can be triggered by steroid use. In retrospect, the shots were worth it - she lasted until 14 and she was so much more comfortable.

that uses pegs on a large plastic board with little circles that hang on the pegs? I have one and am trying to remember. Thanks.

and American Idol - although I always lose interest about this point in the show.

It is very pretty, and $35 is so cheap! Enjoy!

but it seems like intense pigments like red would have to use so much coloring that it could affect the taste of the candy (just a guess), also red is a color of dye most people try to avoid for health reasons.

a sweet poem
O, the trees bend in sorrow,
For in the ground He'll be placed tomorrow.
Before the council He will be tried,
And like a criminal, He'll be crucified.
Oh, the ground opens in the hill,
A mouth that will swallow Him like a pill.
Oh, Jesus Christ! Earth's only savior,
Full of love and sweet behavior,
Will rise again before your faces.
And to him we will all run races.

A steady diet of any reading style will get monotonous. So, if you're interested, sprinkle them through your literature selections. It is very neat, to me, that they match up with the timeline!

We, however, do like them. My husband and son both found "For the Temple" a wonderful, exciting book. (I haven't read that one, yet). I read "Knight of the White Cross" and found that a very good read.
They are hard to get into at first. Old fashioned language is hard to read. However, once you get through the first 3 chapters, your brain is up to speed and the story comes through. I feel smarter for having had to rise to the challenge of decoding these books. I think my 6th grade son benefits from this "brain stretching" and his vocabulary and reading skills soar!
So, you may not like them. It depends on what you wish to get from them. The stories are very good, in my opinion.
Oh, yeah, "In the Reign of Terror" was another good book of his.

He was Star WArs obsessed for at least a year (this was when he was about 10). Then it passed. Now, he is still a little interested (in that he remembers everything and notices SW stuff). He just loves movies. Transformers was his next love (somewhere around 11). However, it wasn't his passion for nearly as long (maybe a month).

the tiny parachute thing is how they use these flares.

I was hoping the backseat would be serviceable enough for my sons (8 and a very small 12) to tool around town in. We would still keep our big cars for big (or those needing comfort) trips, just this to run to things like hockey which is 25 minutes away. How good is her gas mileage?
-
We have a large pickup and a Yukon. Needless to say, we are looking at something that has good gas mileage. Yes, I know they are small, but with 2 smallish boys (yes, I know they grow), I was wondering about the Mini. Anyone have any experience? Is the gas mileage as good as they say? Do they drive well on the highway (ie do they feel "cheap") Thanks.

It seems if it is about plastic being bad for the environment or something - what can you do about it by purging?
Maybe about the carcinogens in cooking materials with plastic? Don't know, just a guess. I"m not pitching my plastic toys!
-
Why the sudden purge of plastic?

to eat their own eggs. We had a layer who would crack and eat her own egg. If you feed them to them, perhaps scramble them even. i know this is weird, but you wouldn't want to have all those lovely hens start eating their eggs!!

My mom is quite capable - she is smarter than I ever hope to be. She is still "on the cutting edge" with her facilities, and will be extra vigilant to get information to help my dad, I'm sure. Both my sisters are very close and will probably go with my mom for any further dr.'s appts. Unfortunately, I live 6 hours away and cannot get away enough to get over there as much as I would like. Thanks again, and please keep praying! I'm sure it will help just knowing what is going on on Monday.

My aging father (78) has been having some health problems for a long time. (Vertigo, too much brightness for eyes, memory loss) He has had several mini strokes, and also has had many MRI's to check his brain.
About 3 weeks ago he got sick (cold/fluish), he was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia and sinus infection treated and released after 2 nights.
Dr. must have suspected something else, as he had him come in today for a follow up MRI to his sinuses to check if the infection was gone. They found "something." "Something" that they want to treat aggressively and may also need surgery. What they didn't tell my mom was what the "something" is, as they need to do further testing.
Doesn't it seem like a cancer (or anything else) would have shown up on the numerous MRI's (or bloodtests) he's had for his brain previously? We are all wondering what the "something" could be. My dad starts testing on Monday. If you pray and are so inclined, please pray that this is something that we can deal with. Please pray this isn't something bad eating on his brain. I just don't want my dad to suffer. Thank you.

This has helped me alot. My husband and I have read the messages and studied the TOG website a little more thoroughly. We have decided to go ahead with TOG. I go with excitement, nervousness, and a little thrill to step up my own education.
Thanks for your patience! I am never this indecisive! I appreciate all of your help!

My eldest is in 6th grade and is 11. It has been a fairly easy fit for us, and he is really learning alot! We plan to keep using Ap. for the next few years.
What I like about the Gen. Science vs: the Elementary Science, is that the Gen. science covers a variety of subjects. The Elementary science covers one topic VERY THOROUGHLY. It got a little long. It was good, don't get me wrong, but a little variety is the spice of life!

How do I find one? In my quest for the "perfect" history program, I am effectively driving myself nuts!! I just need to see it all! Help me please! I live in the Wisconsin/Illinois stateline area, mid state. Thanks so much!
Latin, latin, latin....Where to go after LC2?
in K-8 Curriculum Board
Posted
I researched my head off. Then I found Laura in China talking about Latin Prep. We have just loved it! There is such a smooth transition with what they know from LC2, no learning curve, just pick up and go from where you are. Good luck and check it out.
