  1. I missed yesterday. I am struggling with consistency right now. Today, it was raining a lot, much of the time with thunder. DD#1 and I walked back and forth on the driveway during a non-raining time - we didn't want to be half a mile away and get caught in a thunderstorm. My phone says we did about a mile of driveway pacing.

  4. My state has no requirements for days/hours. I do, however, assume about 180 school days will happen and plan out my days accordingly. Some days they get through assigned work quickly, some days not so quickly. If I have a curriculum that they can complete in a "school year" working 4 days per week, I have no problem with skipping that subject on Fridays (or whatever). And like @Clemsondana mentioned, I periodically assess where we are in relation to where I want us to be and make adjustments as seems reasonable. We school year-round and take breaks when we need/want them. We've currently done 160 days for this school year (which I count from July 1 - June 30), so we'll end up with quite a bit more than 180 this year, but last school year we had fewer because we took some extra breaks in the fall. My kids accomplished what I wanted them to accomplish.
  5. I only did 1 mile - but that's something.

  7. We have had only one working car basically since DH started working from home due to covid. It is working fine now, and we thought about not replacing his car even when he needs to go back to working in person (which might end up being just 2-3 days a week - they don't know yet). If it were just the two of us, we could make it work. But once the kids are involved in activities again, we will inevitably have times when we need to be in two places at once and we will need the second car.
  8. Ah, I just found the AQ test - I scored 37.
  9. I suspect I am at least adjacent. My presentation is (and was when I was a child) different from my diagnosed son's presentation, but I would guess that's because I'm female. The more I learn about autism, the more I see traits of it in myself. I have no reason to pursue a diagnosis though. I'm ISTJ, for whatever that's worth. ETA: I didn't vote in the poll because I am not sure which response most accurately represents me.

  11. I missed a few days. 4.25 miles this morning though. 🙂

  17. A little younger than you're looking for, but my autistic kiddo (1st grade) writes about things related to his special interests (video games). He makes up silly worksheets for DH or me to do, and they always have the game characters. He makes up math word problems involving the characters and items from the games. He writes lists of things he wants to do in the games (very helpful for managing expectations since his screen time is limited - you can check off this many things from your list today, and save the others for another day). Sometimes if he really needs to tell me stuff about the games but I can't listen right then, he will write down what he wanted to say, summarized in 1-3 sentences.

  19. Went for a 2.25-mile walk this evening. It was raining this morning so I couldn't walk then, which was just as well because it was a busy day.
  20. My girls are nearing the end of book 8 (Comparison). I really like the series overall, and I have seen the girls' writing skills develop as they've been going through it. They have been able to transfer skills to writing in other areas (e.g., history) where they don't use one of the prescribed formats. However, for these last couple of books (7 & 8), my oldest has not enjoyed writing very much. She dislikes being assigned a topic that she has zero personal interest in, with only the limited amount of info that she's read in the workbook to draw from. She is also unhappy with the specific directions on how to structure the essays. So for her, I am leaning toward stopping the W&R series and giving her writing assignments that I develop myself. My middle child is still happy with W&R, and I plan to continue to books 9 & 10 with her next school year.
  21. I haven't used it yet but have purchased it to use for next year. I just finished mapping out volume 1, assigning 2-3 pages per day as seemed reasonable to me, and it worked out to 76 school days. The other volumes (I got the full set - much better deal that way) appear to be about the same length. So it looks like a single volume could be done in a semester, or if you space it out more, over a full school year. It looks suitable for middle school to me. Amazon says grades 7-9; Rainbow Resource says grades 6-10. ETA: I just noticed your signature and see that your oldest is 10 (so 5th grade by age next school year). I would guess that it would be fine for him unless he has a difficult time with "read and answer questions." The sample pages on Amazon are pretty representative of the whole. I am planning to use it with my girls, who will be in 7th and 4th grades.
