  1. THANKY YOU! This is the program I'm leaning towards, but was worried about going in to it with a 5th grader. She is pretty advanced in most everything so I think she could handle it...just wasn't sure if some of it would be above her head.
  2. ABSOLUTELY love this! I love seeing the light bulb go on in my kids' heads! I just wish their light bulbs all turned on the same way! LOL! :tongue_smilie:
  3. I LOVE that you had positive feedback for something others are against! I have found over and over again that what works for one family does not always work for another! Thank you for sharing this! And thank you for saying you skipped a level. ;) That's what I was thinking I'd have to do.
  4. Thank you ladies for your help. I need to look at a hardcopy of R&S I guess because what I see online does not impress me much.
  5. Mastery for me is more or less measured by seeing something occur naturally in ALL subject areas as well as every day life. That being said, many times on rough draft writings my kids will misspell words...MASTERY is when they can catch the errors on their own during the editing phase - or at least recognize it's not correct. I also don't always wait for mastery on something before moving on. MANY times I have just moved on and within a few lessons that previous concept has clicked! I see this ALL the time in Math with my 9 year old.
  6. You are spending entirely too much time on "formal" curriculum based schooling! I agree with many of the above suggestions. But you first and foremost to make a list of what is MOST important to you and go from there. We only do Science and Social Studies 2 days a week each! Most public schools (at least in CA and AZ) are lucky to do those subjects ONCE a week...and many times it's ONLY when incorporated with other language arts lessons! Find ways to combine subjects...it'll save time and frustration!
  7. Have you ever looked at All About Spelling??? AWESOME program!
  8. How do we find out what the prices are like? Do we also have to call to find that out? I kind of want to know what the discounts are before I call to ask if they have the books I want.
  9. Btw...I looked at Analytical Grammar...I LOVE everything I see on their website! I'm going to try and get my hands on a copy to look at more in-depthly. And I think you are right...you can jump right in to Analytical Grammar (skip Jr.) if you have done all 4 levels of FLL. And my daughter is VERY above grade level in reading, so I don't think that will be an issue at all! Stuff of Legend - What were some of the differences between GWG and R&S? They look very similar to me when I looked at samples.
  10. Does anyone have experience with Growing with Grammar? Someone recommended it, but it too looks to be possible a bit too easy after FLL??? Is FLL4 just really that advanced?
  11. Thank you!!! I'm going to try this right now!
  12. THANK you for this info...but how do I add a signature line and change my profile picture??? Is that not allowed until a certain point? I can't find any info on that and I've BEEN searching the forums. :/
