  1. Food allergy is a common cause of bedwetting. Does he drink Cow's milk? Other possible causes could be constipation or dreaming that he was going to the bathroom.

  3. Thank you all for your responses. I'm reading and responding to them. It's so nice to know I'm not alone!
  4. His obsessed with video games. I limit his time to 30 minutes a day. However, when he gets together with a friend (which is not often), he gets to play more. He also loves computer games. For college, he said he's love to go to the Nintendo school for video game programming. It's way across the county and I don't know if I'll be able to afford it. However, if this is something he would want to do and would actually finish, I'd mortgage my home. He just has NO motivation. He's so opposite of me. He tries to do the minimum amount of everything.

  6. I also need to declutter. I have gotten rid of many things, but I still have clutter. It seems to re-accumulate. I thought of a storage shed too, but then I realized I would probably fill up my house with more stuff anyway. The times in my life that have been clutter free have been so much easier and that's what I want again. I have lots of stuff to sell too, but I don't seem to have time to do that. I know the solution is to just get rid of things and relcaim my space. Perhaps we could support each other in decluttering.
  7. Quote: I just know the design to sell shows make a huge difference in a home with only $1-2 thousand dollars. You don’t need to spend nearly that much money. Decluttering your home is one of the best things you can do. Next, I’d paint the walls—a neutral color. To ‘update’ the kitchen, you could put new knobs on the cupboards and drawers. If the carpet needs cleaning, clean it. If it is stained or worn out, you can think about replacing it.
  8. For my first house, I didn’t do anything at first. After it didn’t sell, I totally decluttered, rearranged things, bought new towels, painted, etc. It sold within two weeks!!
  9. Do you think RS4k Is just for little kids? How do you think it would work for someone in jr. high without much science experience?
  10. My son is 14 and has Asperger’s. I’ve been homeschooling him for a couple years, and it has made such a difference for him. His anxiety is greatly reduced and I can adapt curriculum as needed. It’s not always easy, but I believe it is so much better than public school. My son also has specific interests and used to only like nonfiction. Just last year, we started reading novels—I let him pick ones that had topics that were interesting to him. Now, it’s part of our routine, we are always reading one novel at a time. He can read his nonfiction books by himself. We read the novels together—he usually reads to me. I have transitioned him to reading every other chapter by himself. I started with funny poetry first and slowly showed him some other shorter poems. I used ones with a lot of personification – he thought that was funny. For math, we use Rightstart. It’s a great program. We just started SOTW. It’s nonfiction, but reads like fiction and he seems to like it. I was very frustrated homeschooling him for the first year. Then I realized that I have to go at his pace, give him lots of breaks and take my own breaks.
  11. My son is in 8th grade and has Asperger’s, dysgraphia, dyslexia, and a lot of anxiety. We’ve only homeschooled for a couple years, and I’m still trying to get him caught up from his days in public schools. Being at home is so much better for him, but he is not motivated at all. I have to sit by him and help him through everything, which is draining at times. He’s very bright, but has difficulty in all subjects. Next year he will be technically in 9th grade although academically way below that. I heard that I need to make sure he earns credit for high school work so that he can go onto college. How does that work for someone who is so far behind. Is it ok if he is “in high school†for 6 years or more? I think we’ll need those extra years. Would love to connect with others in a similar situation and welcome any advice.
