  1. call the hospital and work out a payment plan, even $10 a month...that way your credit won't be touched.
  2. I bet I'm the only one who jams out to old Run DMC, Rob Base, and other rappers from the 80's. When I hear that music, I just have to get up and DANCE!! and even my kids know the songs!
  3. wowza! I can not wait to show off the new catalog!! the new products and patterns are wonderful, yellows, greys, bright blue, hot pink, butterflies, dots, etc...so much fun! I can not tell you ladies how wonderful it is to work for a Christian based company that totally supports you and helps you every step of the way! If you have EVER considered signing up for Thirty One, NOW is the time, there are currently two new consultants to pick from and they are both gorgeous! For $99.00 you can not go wrong joining this company. I signed up in October of 2010 and have never regretted it. I make between $200 and $450 per month and that is only doing a party or two each month and selling only to friends and family. I can't imagine what I would make if I really pushed myself. Being a stay at home, homeschooling mom, I wanted to feel like "Lisa" again and not just my kids mom and my husbands wife, we needed some extra money each month, and when I found out that the name of the company was based on Proverbs 31 - I was all in!! Thanks for reading, just wanted to share my excitement with all of you. I've been a part of this board for what feels like forever and I hardly ever share things unless it's school related or discipline related, lol! just wanted to share something positive for a change. :)
  4. my dd just turned 11...homeschooling her lately has been the pitts. So much attitude, so much disrespect, eye rolling, the whole 9 yards! We took a 3 week Christmas break, started back very light today. Math time, not her favorite subject I know that, we are once again going over division...she's struggling with it a bit, just not clicking with her. Once again, I go over it, try to break it down into small pieces...the entire time she's doing math, she has attitude, as if I've done something horribly wrong, a little sassy, kind of short in her answers, etc...I finally ask her "what is the matter?" she of course says "nothing, I just hate math" to which I say "I'm sorry you hate it, you are very good at math when you really try, let's go over it one more time, I think you have it this time." She kind of rolls her eyes at me and starts doing the problem, she gets it right. I say "great job" or something like that and she says "I know how to do, I just don't want to". I then tell her that her attitude is pretty stinky and does she even notice how ugly she is towards me during school...she of course denies any wrong doing on her part and says I'm the one with the problem. Well......................I lost it! I shut the math book, told her school was over and until her attitude was better I will not be doing school with her, she's on her own. She starts crying and saying how mean I am and the old "well then why don't you just send me to school!" I also have a 15 yr old who does her work, no problems, no attitude, just merrily works through her assignments, easy as pie. I look at my other dd and wonder where I failed. How can she be so rude acting? where does this attitude come from? and better yet, how can I change it or what do I do about it? I hate what this does to me! I'm not in an awful mood, and trying so hard to snap out of it. I know she is a perfectionist, I know she hates to not understand something, but I'm trying to help her, I am not the enemy! and I certainly don't deserve to be treated with such disrespect!! Help please!
  5. she's 6 yrs old and doesn't get along very well with the other cat. I will cat the vet and see if they have any advice. Our local pet shelter is so over crowded, I don't think I could do that.
  6. Met my dh as a juinor in high school - I was 16, he was 17 (a senior), that was in 1983 that we started dating. We have now been married for 21 years and together for 28 years, I love him more today than ever! BTW, we waited until we were 23 to get married.
  7. okay, a little background - we got our cats together in 2005. Tinker was a happy cat...no problems UNTIL...we got our Boston Terrier in 2008, Tinker didn't like the dog and we decided to let the cats live upstairs and Daisy (Boston) downstairs. We have a baby gate on our stairs to keep everyone separated. Tinker started peeing in our playroom soon after the dog came, we thought it was because of all the other cat smells in the playroom (that were here prior to us living here) so last year we made the investment of all new carpet for our entire upstairs. Got rid of all prior smells and believe me, our carpet was nasty!! the carpet in the playroom would gag you as you were taking it up. I was appalled!! couldn't believe how bad it really was. Before the new carpet was installed, we even cleaned the under flooring and put Killz paint on the sub flooring. Fast forward to this month - playroom starting smelling of cat urine again, found out she has been lighting up the back corner of our playroom AGAIN! it was horrible! we've used vinegar, baking soda, cleaner from the pet store, etc...and it still smells but not as badly. Oh, forgot to mention, she has also urinated on our couch cushions in our playroom which ruined them, we now have a couch with no cushions that we sit on when watching TV in the playroom (it's a wooden sofa frame). She has also urinated in bean bag chairs left in the playroom. Well, this morning, I come into the playroom to get on the computer and guess what I find? you guessed it! TWO piles of urine in the carpet in the back corner of our playroom!! I AM DONE!!!!! I can not live like this anymore! she is destroying our home! we can't even have our playroom like we want because we are scared of her peeing! We can't afford this! we can not afford to have two litter pans and that doesn't even work - Belle (the other cat) would use that one too. We can't separate the cats, we already have the dog and the cats separated, our house isn't THAT big, lol! Advice? please? I think she would be happier living somewhere where she is the queen, the only pet. I want to rehome her but how do I do that...I don't want to take her to the spca. Help!
  8. if so, what do you use? I recently purchased AP U.S. History Crash Course by Larry Krieger. Dd is also using Notgrass Exploring America. I would love for her to have an AP class under her belt. Just wondering what everyone else does.
  9. thanks everyone! Dd and I feel so much better now! We will be doing our own quizzes and tests for now on.
  10. My dd is (well, she was) enjoying this history curriculum until it's time to take the quiz and/or test. The quizzes and tests seem to be very detail oriented and even I had a hard time answering the questions. For those of you who did not use the quiz/test booklet, how did you grade the subject? Did you make up your own quizzes and tests? Thanks so much! this has really become a sore subject for dd, her frustration over the testing is causing her to no longer like history.
  11. get your vitamin D level checked and also find out if you are anemic. I have low Vit D levels and I'm anemic, I am also battling severe RA and Ankylosing Spondilytis which makes me exhausted all the time! It's a struggle every day...I do drink about 3 to 4 cups of coffee in the am and I try to sip ice cold water all day long, it really helps!
  12. grade this year and we are looking at Geometry and Algebra 2. We used Key To Algebra last year and I feel like she does not have a solid understanding of Algebra...worried about moving her forward. Would it be too much to do Algebra 1 again AND Geometry at the same time? We're looking at Teaching Textbooks for both. Well, then I read a review somewhere (Timberdoodle I think) that said that Teaching Textbooks Algebra 2 had so much review that "If your child has started, but not completed, an Algebra 1 program, you will find that there is enough review that he can just begin with Algebra 2." So, opinions please. Thanks so much!:bigear:
  13. I usually reply with "Socialization is the reason we do homeschool!" This shuts them up!
  14. Forgot to say, there is a Great Wolf Lodge here in Wmsbg too.
  15. come to Williamsburg- we have Jamestown, Yorktown, Busch Gardens, Water Country, we're only an hour or less away from Va. Beach and an hour away from Richmond.
  16. there is a new yogurt shop in New Town called "Sweet Frog" it is a MUST DO!!!! the Frog part stands for "Fully Rely On God". It has an amazing sundae bar! every topping imaginable and the price is based on the weight of your creation, very reasonable and so fun to do as a family. Oh and the Cheese Shop is a must do too! those sandwiches are to die for!
  17. Busch Gardens and Water Country for sure! everything else has been covered in prior posts. Have a great time! I've lived here all my life, it's a fabulous town!
  18. thank you all so much for your input. I have been looking at different websites and books on Shakespeare and I'm not so intimidated now. Would love more input if anyone has anything else they would like to share.
  19. and they are asking that it be "an element of story, not a theater class"
  20. I'm being asked to possibly teach a "Beginning Shakespeare" class for middle school aged children at our co-op this Fall. I'm a bit nervous and wondering if I can do it, it's kind of out of my comfort zone, but sometimes - that can be a good thing. Any suggestions or advice?:lurk5:
  21. we got ours from HST - they are/were a bit smelly.
  22. I just became a consultant for Thirty-One Gifts in Oct. of last year. In case you're not familiar - here's the link: http://www.thirtyonegifts.com. The company is wonderful and I'm having a great time so far. My question is this: when do you find time in your day for "work". Do you put aside a certain amount every day? do you just fit it in when you can? do you wait til kids are in bed? how much time do you feel you put towards your home business? do you involve your kids? I would love to hear your stories, the good and the bad, the successes and the failures. Being a sahm and a homeschool mom is more than a full time job, but my gosh I love going out and meeting new people, sharing the company and the products with other women, I love what 31 represents and it excites me to talk about it and show people the catalog and the products. Sometimes, I feel guilty that I love my new "job" so much!
