I love to watch baseball, football, and hockey. I prefer baseball and hockey pro, but I love college and pro football. GO BLUE! Which inevitably means that I'll be watching Final Four basketball this weekend because despite my typical dislike of basketball, my Michigan boys are THERE!!
Well, since I'm married to a Kansas boy and I usually cheer for the underdog, I will actually watch the Final Four and cheer quite loudly for Wichita State. And I just want Michigan to lose since they barely, and I mean barely beat KU. So :p

College football. I grew up in Nebraska, so I bleed Cornhusker Red. :)
It's a religion here. Really.
I love watching football! I prefer Pro but hubby likes college the best.
I love all football, but mostly college.
College football. Mississippi State.
I'm sorry. I'm an LSU fan. We usually beat you guys :p

Just wanted to add that even in a hospital, if you are belligerent enough (which I most certainly am), they will let your baby room in with you. Not that I'm advocating hospital birth over home birth. Home birth was never an option for me with military insurance.

I had a midwife with my last hospital birth. It was heavenly! That practice had 2 OBs and 4 midwives. I saw everyone during my pregnancy. The midwives were all phenomenal. Every time I walked into that office, no matter who I was scheduled to see that day, the midwives would stop and chat with me. The midwife on duty when I went into labor happened to be the one with whom I had the strongest connection. She really stood up for me at the hospital. For example, while I was in the tub and in transition, I begged her for any drug she could find. I told her before I went into labor to ignore me when I begged for drugs. She just looked at me, smiled, and said no. Just what I wanted. She kicked everyone out of the room except for dh and another nurse (which was awesome, considering I'd previously given birth in Navy hospitals, where everyone and their grandma comes to watch). She refused to allow the nurse to hook me up to an IV (I bruise easily with IVs) or monitor. After 2 cruddy military hospital birthing experiences, I finally had the birth I wanted.
I cannot recommend a midwife any more. I was too chicken to have a home birth, but my midwife made me feel at home. You *can* have a home birth feel at a hospital if you have a good midwife. So if I were you, I'd just bumble along with the current insurance/provider until the new insurance kicks in. Then find a midwife who will stand up for you. Look at finding an OB/midwife as a job interview. You are in charge. You can leave if the provider does not respect your wishes. This is YOUR birth. Find the best person for you.
Good luck and congrats on the new baby!

We recently upgraded to a king from a queen. Though it's only been 2 months, I could never go back. Never! It really is a lot more room. I'm 5'2 and dh is 5'11. We aren't big people, yet the queen was tight. We hate being touched while sleeping. My vote is king.

This is so cool! This Lutheran is so darn excited right now. We are all glued to the TV. Cardinal Bergoglio/Pope Francis sounds like an extraordinary gentleman.

I had to come back to the board just to post on this thread. This was just too good to miss.

Boundaries were crossed. You are right to be upset. That would bug the snot out of me.

I never understood your obsession with Alex. He was pretty, but I never got it. I just started watching True Blood. Oh. My. Yummy. Goodness. I will fight you for him.
How should we settle this? Pistols at dawn? Hair pulling? Ghetto knife fight? I will fight you for him.

Santa brought our kids Ticket To Ride this morning. I haven't played it with them yet, but all 3 had a blast playing, even the 5yo. It must not be too difficult if the 5yo played.

My dh had to work today :(. Other than that, we all had a great day. The only other minor glitch was the fact that we were sent the wrong Amazon order, but my dd5 loved her gift. The kids were happy with everything they got. They played nicely all day. Everyone got along. We stayed in our pajamas. Cooking was kept to a minimum. We just missed dh.

Oh Julie! I wish I could give you a big hug right now. You are a smart, beautiful woman. This situation absolutely stinks, but you will find the strength within you to eventually move on. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I was wondering if someone would bring this to our attention.
Without reading any replys, I have to respond. The wife in me says Oh Heck Yes!!!! The logical, rational, Jesus-loving person want to beat the crap out of the dentist and his wife. Dude needs to control his response to a hussy. The hussy needs to remind herself she is married. Women are not the cause for men's sins. Men are grown and can control themselves. A group of men on the Iowa Supreme Court should know better than to blame the woman for their sins.
Yes, the woman in this case behaved badly. I agree with that assumption. However, the dentist could and should have controlled himself. Let's not lay all the blame on the female. Men are smart and capable of controlling their responses.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!! As a mother of children who catch every stinking stomach bug within a 50mi radius, I thank you for considering others.
We have had to back out of a Sunday School Christmas program before due to stomach issues. I felt bad because my kids were feeling better at the time of the program, but they had been symptom-free for <24 hours. I just couldn't risk the health of all those other kids right before the Holidays. You did the right thing.
-
I have no excuse for not finishing my Christmas shopping other than the fact that I am lazy. Does that make you feel better?

I am now a "Certified Kilt Inspector". Thanks!

I cannot count the number of times I fell asleep in my bed while my tiny infant was nursing. For real. I just plopped the baby on the boob and finally fell asleep. Maybe this should be in the confessions thread. I never had the heart to let my little people CIO before 1yo. I just put them on the boob and hoped for 3 hours of sleep.
Hugs. They are so darn sweet and trying at that age.

Wow, smokers! My people!!
Actually I am currently not smoking, but have no delusions it will last.
No one in my real life knows I smoke- seriously, no one but my family. I carry febreeze and a coat in the car and wear the coat when I smoke and febreeze my hair and chew gum. When I quit a few years ago my mom posted something on Facebook about it (poor mom, ever my cheerleader...and I always let her down) I had quite a few friends message me in surprise saying I must have just picked up that terrible habit. Um, no, I smoked the whole time. I'm just sneaky like that.
I am also an atheist, a democrat and a vegan. Which I don't find to be related, but when I meet people who find one to be repulsive, the other two are usually also looked down upon. Experience has taught me not to advertise any of these things.
And I nursed my youngest to age 4.
Now you know all my deep, dark secrets!
Oh gosh I do the same things! I have a designated smoking jacket that I change before I go in public. I religiously use mouthwash and gum to hide the smell. I have quit at least 1,000,000 times, but someone inevitably pisses me off and to the gas station I go to buy a pack. I really hate the fact that I smoke, but I like the act of smoking. Perhaps I should just move to Colorado.
Wendi-who has to teach Sunday School in the morning.

Oh how could I forget the evil of all evils?!?!
I smoke, too. I want to want to quit, but I just ... don't.
Ugh! Me too! I hate smoking, but here I am sitting outside. It keeps me from going crazy in people.
