Oh my. I imagine that wasn't what you had in mind!
 Not at all! Santa thought the picture on Amazon looked awfully cute, not at all like something a KKK Grand Dragon would wear:glare:.
We have another Santa-is-a-racist story. A few years ago Santa brought our son a talking truck. The truck was supposed to say "Snake bite power" but is really, REALLY sounded like "Make white power," especially when it went off at odd times.
I knew Santa employed slave labor (elves), but I didn't realize he was so racist.
-
She would love it if I bedazzled the bejesus out of that thing!
-
This is what Santa brought my youngest for Christmas:
It was supposed to be a princess cloak. Instead, it looks an awful lot like a KKK outfit.
Who knew Santa was a racist?

My name is Wendi. I joined shortly before Christmas of '08. I love How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Hence, wendilouwho.

It's a pretty safe bet that at least one of my cousins is currently incarcerated.
Let's see:
I have two uncles who have served time in Angola.
One of those uncles also did a stint in Hunt, another LA state penitentiary.
Two of my dad's brothers served 2+ years in the parish jail.
About 75% (or more) of my aunts, uncles, and cousins have served some sort of time.
Most of my cousins-in-law/cousin's-baby-daddys are ex-cons.
We won't go into all the family members who have been to rehab, including my dad.
Jail is almost a right-of-passage in my family.
Is it sad that I am incredibly proud that I:
-have no criminal record or arrests
-have been happily married for almost 12 years to my baby daddy (and all my kids belong to him) and he has no criminal record
-have no substance abuse problems
-have never actually been in a physical fight past the age of 8
-have never pulled a gun/knife/weapon on anyone else
-have never been shot or stabbed (by anyone other than myself. I constantly stab myself with everything imaginable)
-have never sold drugs
-have never stolen a thing in my life?
I live 1000+ miles away. Good stuff there. I kinda have to laugh about it or I would get way too sad.

Nadia, I hope they fix it soon.
Not quite as universally offensive as erasing a person's external display of religion and faith without permission.

:svengo:Seriously? SERIOUSLY!!!!!
Who does crap like that? SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!?!!!!!
I am so sorry that happened to you. That is just one of those slap-yo-momma stupid things. SERIOUSLY?!?!?!

And I have to respectfully disagree with you, Wendi. How can you not have books in the bathroom?!?! That's where I get a ton of reading done. :D
:tongue_smilie:We don't keep them in the bathroom. We (meaning I) bring them there if necessary. The tub is the only place I can read without being interrupted;).

Ugh...another big tv, no books post. Have you seen their closets? Their bedroom shelves? I used to have so many books, then realized they were space wasters. If you came her, you'd see a television, and not see any books unless you walked into the laundry room, or saw the shelves in my closet.
Some people can't afford books, others use the library, some use only an ereader. I DO realize some people simply don't read, but there are way too many assumptions going on here(in general, not you personally).
Why look down your noses at those who are different?
I can see your point, but I still disagree (repsectfully, of course;))
When my dd11 started K, her teacher challenged all the parents to spend the same amount of $ on books every month as they spend on cable. Of course some families couldn't manage that amount, but many went to libraries. For many people, libraries are the only way to access any sort of book.
This is where I disagree with you. We have books in every room of my house except the bathrooms. My dh said I should try to decorate the living room, so I bought a box of books. I want my kids to grow up surrounded by books. I want them to interact with books everywhere in this house. I do think that reading=learning. I couldn't imagine living in a house with no books. I couldn't raise my children in a house with no books. Yes, dh and I both have Kindles, but my kids see us reading on them all the time. Kids who grow up surrounded by books usually become readers.
In my own personal experience, my parents had two bookcases of books while I lived at home. My parents aren't readers, but having those books available and displayed created a reader. After I left home my mom got rid of all those books:glare:. My two younger sisters are complete non-readers. I take that back. They did read the Twilight series. That's it.
So yes, I do think having books in the home is essential for creating readers.

It would be easier to redeem it on the computer. I almost always purchase Kindle books on our computer anyway.

When my son was around 2, he had a hard time saying the "f" and "sh" sounds. His "f" sounded like "b" and his "sh" sounded like "ch". Every time we walked into Wal-Mart, he asked to see the fish, except it didn't sound like fish. It sounded exactly like "b**ch". Always fun when he asked loudly while others were near.

Mr. Darcy is most welcome :).
I am loving malbec recently, and the two that I can afford to bring into my Happy Place are Alamos (Argentina) and Caillero del Diablo (Chile)- which did you and your dh find?
The Malbec was called (I use "was" because dh and I finished off the bottle;)) Gascon. It is an Argentine wine. So smooth and yummy.
-
Can I come? I'll bring what is left of the delicious Malbec dh and I just discovered and my brand new copy of Pride and Prejudice on Blu-ray. Surely Mr. Darcy is invited to the happy place.

rhymes with Slowjob
:iagree: My dh would also agree.;)

My kids would revolt if we waited to open presents. They would love the activities, but would wake up at 4am if necessary in order to open presents.
Hope you have fun and Merry Christmas!
Would I rather get an Iphone or a new Android?

I ust got an iPad for Christmas, so I'm not really sure how exactly it will be used, especially since I have an Android phone. I had the original Motorola Droid and loved it. After dh washed his second phone, I gave him my old phone and upgraded to a Motorola Droid X2. We seriously considered switching to Iphones, but I really really love my Droid. We didn't get a 4G capable phone because we live in the boonies and 4G isn't available here. I do miss the slide-out keyboard on my old Droid, but the Droid X2 is really cool.
ETA: We are also with Verizon
