  1. THANKS so much ladies for your input...this is all very helpful. SO, tell me...if I start our day with Math...do the meeting stuff that I know the kids don't know....have them each do the drill sheet and then teach each child one at a time, that should do it...right? We do workboxes, so I think then I can dismiss them to go to their boxes after I taught them. THANKS again...off to plan for Monday.
  2. thanks...that does help A LOT!!!! I think I can do that...I will at least try!! I was skipping the meeting time...and I was noticing that there was a lot of stuff I was skipping. THANKS again. Kathy
  3. Rosie, I LOVE the way you think...do you want to come to my house and teach history to my kids????? Kathy
  4. For those of you who have more than 1-2 kids and use Saxon Math...how do you do it? I mean...do you spend time with each child to do all the TE asks of you? Do you skip over a lot of that stuff and just do the worksheet and drill sheets?? Can someone just give me some guidance how I can schedule my 3 kids (Saxon 1,2 and 3) math lessons Thanks. Kathy
  5. How can someone who really doesn't like History teach it so that their kids like it??? I started using SOTW last year...sort of liked it, but not really. And so wanting to stay with Classical model...I then chose VP history...running into the same problem...anybody ahve any suggestions for me???? Kathy

  8. wow...what a mixed bag...I should have guessed before I asked the question.
  9. Besides the Grammar one, has anybody else seen the other school house rock DVD's...like the Science and the Multiplication one? What is your opinion...as good as Grammar...not as good...better???
  10. so who here uses the MOTH schedule along with Workboxes? We use workboxes, love it and don't plan on changing that...so I was wondering how the 2 can gel together. Kathy
  11. Who let's their kids wear PJ's to school and who is strict in making sure everyone is dressed before school starts?? Just a curiosity question...mostly. Don't know which camp I land in yet.
  12. so it sounds like you all think the MOTH is a good book, but MOTS, not so much? AM I reading that right???
  13. Oh I think it is comprehensive, but I think it is up to you to make sure you cover all of the stuff...unlike a program like Saxon and MUS, if you follow the program you will cover everything. I think it is pretty parent intensive...and that is why I sold my copy.
  14. What I do with my kids is if they are rounding to the nearest ten....I make a time line of 10's. Then I ask what 2 numbers is our number between...when they figure that out...then I tell them is it closer to the small number or the big number. And I also tell them that the 5 is a silly guy...he thinks he is way bigger than he is...so he is closer to the big number. Does that help?? I do the same thing with 100's, 1000's. Kathy
  15. sell them on the swap board..or I also use homeschool classifieds.
  16. I bought it. I was all excited to make it work for us. I have 3 kids, and like someone else said, I had a hard time writing 3 5 a days, and figuring out what I was going to do next. It was just WAY too much bookkeeping and it was too loose for my comfort level. I ended up going to Saxon math and that is much better for me. MOTL wasn't directive enough for me...too loose. So, I sold it. Kathy
  17. I posted on another thread, but I thought I might start a new thread just for my questions... WOW...I look at the MOTH schedule that someone posted...making that kind of schedule ALONE seems overwhelming...much less following it. What happens when something causes the schedule to get off...then do yo just continue in the schedule skipping what is missed? Maybe that is all covered in the book...but it all seems almost too unreal??? Also, what is the difference between Managers of Their Homes and Managers of their Schools? Thanks.!!!!!!!

  19. I just looked at the MOTH site...how does MOTH and MOTS(schools) differ? Would one be better than another...
