Our dd had this during her 1st year of Nursing School.
In hindsight, she was stressed out and had lost weight.
Our derm asked all kinds of personal questions, to see if there was an emotional cause.
(Regardless, it takes a while to recover from.)

I agree, you can get hair loss for stress.  It takes about 3 months to manifest after the stressor event (it affects the hair growth cycle). My DD lost a lot of hair 3 months after being very ill with pneumonia and the dermatologist diagnosed it as this. After a short time the loss reduced and has not recurred.

I recommend taking your DD to a dermatologist, if the doctor she saw is from a different specialty.

  2. It's possible he previously engaged in more subtle and culturally validated self-stimming (shaking his leg when he sits, cracking his knuckles, squeezing his hands) like everyone does, and now the mode has changed to a more observable action.  It may be related to anxiety during the pandemic. I doubt it is an after-effect of meds but I am not an expert in that.

I wouldn’t mind keeping the tele-med appointment option when all this is over.

If you have a way to provide this feedback to your insurer, please do! I provide behavioral health advice via telemedicine due to the pandemic. We would love to  continue to have this option, but it depends on what services and mode of delivery insurance will cover.

I would not travel unless it were an absolutely non-negotiable emergency. If it were an absolutely non-negotiable emergency I would look to drive, even across country. There cannot be "social distancing" on a plane. Even if, as whitehawk described upthread, there were only one passenger *per row,* the a/c would be blowing any airborne droplets freely throughout the cabin.

(It makes me terribly sad to say this. I really, really love traveling.)

I agree with you emotionally, Pam, but not objectively. Driving across the country would likely expose you a greater number of germs.  How many total bathroom, food, and hotel stops would you need to make? Even if you packed food and slept in your car, at some point you are going to have to poop, and you are going to have to stop at gas stations to refill your tank.

For a non-negotiable emergency I would fly, but not for any other reason.

  5. I think it is very difficult to predict with accuracy, but I doubt large group events ( greater than 50 people) will be happening in early July; mid-size groups are a maybe. I think as we open up there will be a surge of cases, and proceeding through each stage will be protracted. Honestly, I doubt I will attend mid-size group events unless they are outside in July.

  6. I have donated several hundred dollars to the local group that provides grocery store cards to school families and an equal amount to the food bank.  I tipped our voice teacher the equivalent of a month's tuition since he had many families quit and was worried abut paying his mortgage.  When we get take out I tip about 50%,  and this is reminding me to go buy gift cards for restaurants we support. Overall, grocery bills are higher but gas costs are much lower; I'm probably coming our ahead on that.

    Are you hydrated?

Have you checked your blood pressure?

    Do you have any swelling?

Please, go see the doc. Headache is a side effect of your cancer med and its also a possibility of blood clot caused by your recent airline trip.  Five days is the signal it is abnormal and needs to be checked out.

    Oh yikes, yes do this!!
