  1. I'm taking part in the John Sandford Days of Prey Blog tour. Today is my turn and I read his 10th book - Certain Prey. He has a new book coming out on the 18th so publicist doing a new fangled blog tour thing in which folks read each one of his books and review them in chronological order. Most of the participants are including a giveaway of his newest book "Storm Prey" plus whatever book they read. So - stop by my blog, enter for a chance to win and also check out the other bloggers reviews. I'm hoping for a chance to win his newest book as well. But if I don't, I'll go out and buy it. I love discovering new to me authors.
  2. I'm still working on Magic Mountain and on page 381. Just 300 more pages to go. Maybe I'll finish it tomorrow. Today is my turn for the John Sandford Days of Prey blog tour and giving away a copy of his newest book - Storm Prey. Check out the tour and enter to win.
  3. Coming in on the tail end of the conversation and wanted to know or maybe I missed it. Have you checked with your homeowner's insurance company to see if your policy will provide coverage for vandalism to property? Most policies do.
  4. Look forward to hearing what you thought about Physick Dane. I enjoyed it. Good job with the classics. Sorry to hear about the rib. My mother did the same thing quite a long time ago. Hope you feel better soon. The Magic Mountain is slow reading but I have to read it for my class so will keep plugging away. Have a book tour coming up on Friday - John Sandford's Prey Tour. I'll be reading Certain Prey and reviewing it. 19 folks reading each one of his books, reviewing them chronologically, leading up to the release of his new book Storm Prey. Be sure to check it out.
  5. Bump - This one - not that one. :) I just returned from Scout Expo and feeling a bit tired. First time camping in eons and didn't get much sleep. Time to relax and read for a while. Happy Sunday.

This week's R is for Romance - the diva of Romance Nora Roberts. I just finished Savor the Moment, part of her bride quartet series. Still working on reading Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann for my lit class. Haven't gotten to far and need to quite getting distracted by other books. What are you all reading this week?

  9. Today is the start of book week 17 and should have you starting book # 17. Mr linky is not up on 52 books blog yet, because I had a midterm to finish writing today for my online Nobel Literature class. Be on the lookout for the post tomorrow. The theme starts with Q this week and I've got a pretty good idea of what it will be. I'm currently reading Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann, another book for my lit class. Just finished reviewing Mayo Clinic Diet - has some excellent suggestions. Finished The Lumby Lines by Gail Fraser and Make her Pay by Roxanne St. Clair last week. What are you all reading this week?
  10. I will be a bit late with posting book week 17 since I'm still working on my midterm. At the latest, it will be up monday morning. Happy reading!
  11. This week in my Nobel Literature class was all about drama. I read the play Endgame by Samuel Beckett, aptly coined theatre of the absurd. The play was very absurd, but come to find out my professor loves Beckett. I gave up on Across the Endless River...to much description and not enough story. I started reading The Lumby Lines by Gail Fraser which is kinda like Jan Karon's mitford series. Cast of characters in a small town, except it doesn't revolve around the pastor. It's part of a series and the publicist kindly sent me the other 3 books in the series. Only need to review the first one, thank goodness. I am so far behind on reviews, it's ridiculous. I'll have to do some mini reviews and get caught up.
  12. Today is the start of book week 16 and should have you starting book # 16. Mr linky is now up on 52 books blog and ready for you to link your reviews. This weeks theme is the letter P. My originally planned post about Marcel Proust changed since I didn't have time to do the research. Hence Things that start with P including project gutenberg and links to Proust's stories online plus a few others. Enjoy! What are you reading this week?
  13. Sorry, I've been missing in action this week while working on taxes and whatnot. I started Across the Endless River by Thad Carhart. Not sure if I like it not or yet. Will give a couple more chapters.
  14. Today is the start of book week 15 and should have you starting book # 15. Mr linky is now up on 52 books blog and ready for you to link your reviews. O is for Ozymandias: The battle of the two poets. Did you know Percy Shelley had a competition with Horace Smith and they both wrote an Ozymandias poem for a magazine? Check out their poems on the 52 books blog and let me know which one you like. I just finished reading People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. Very interesting story and took you progressively back in time to reveal parts of the story. About to start "Across the Endless River" by Thad Carhart. It's a historical fiction novel about the son of Sacagawea travels through Europe. I'm also having a giveaway of a historical fiction novel by Irish author Frank Delaney "Venetia Kelly's Traveling Show. Click over to My Two Blessings to find out more about the book and enter. Oh - I finished the Take a Dare challenge and part of the challenge was to do a vlog about the books I read and the movies I watched. My one and probably only vlog is posted now. And how appropriate that in our 15th week, falls April 15th. Have you finished your taxes? What are you all reading this week?
  15. Hi ya'll. I'm have a book giveaway for the next week on my personal blog Frank Delaney's Venetia Kelly's Traveling Show. Very interesting book. Please come check it out.
  16. I just finished reading "Burn" by Ted Dekker and "Mr Darcy Broke my Heart" by Beth Patillo. Both excellent reads. Still trying to decide what going to read this week.

  21. Today is the start of book week 13 and should have you starting book # 13. Mr linky is now up and ready for you to link your reviews. You are all reading some very interesting books and my wish list is growing by leaps and bounds. M is for Mars: This week is all about Kim Stanley Robinson who wrote many interesting science fiction/fantasy books and won many awards for his books. What are you all reading this week?
  22. I've given up on "Young Bess" by Margaret Irwin. Gave it a good 60 some odd pages but it's not getting any better. Long, run on sentences that go on forever with the character thinking this that and the other in the midst of doing whatever. Oy! It's a review book and the publicist is expecting me to post a review. Unfortunately it won't be positive. I'll link to those who "loved" the book. But honestly, I can't see it. Now reading Venetia Kelly's Traveling Show by Frank Delaney. Much better. He may digress but it's well written and understandable.
  23. I just finished reading non fiction book The Scarlet and the Black. Makes me want to see the movie now! Next up historical fiction novel "Young Bess" by Margaret Irwin. Then I need to get reading Venetia Kelly's Traveling Show by Frank Delaney since I'm part of the TLC tour 4/7. This month is going too fast!
