  1. Thanks, yes, we are in Florida. And I haven't kept up with Common Core much. My friend thinks I need to use something that is aligned with Common Core.
  2. but it has been forever since I've need 2nd grade math. A teacher friend looked at it and said it was behind the public school math here. I'd been planning to get BJU but I'm not sure now. I'd love to hear from those who have actually used it. Thanks!
  3. I think. I have FLL1 but we didn't use it. If I go that route, I could use it or go ahead and get FLL2, maybe?
  4. Our classical enrichment center is offering Song School Latin for K-3rd grade next year. My daughter would like to take Latin but I'm not sure about it. I've looked at online samples. Is it too young? It doesn't look like something I'd want to use at home but maybe it would be fun for her in a class setting. She will be 7.5 when school starts back and would have to do Song School 1 next year and then 2 the following when she is 8/9. After that she can go into the other Latin programs. So, yes or no?
  5. What do you all use and love? I'm open to traditional textbooks as well as PLL and WWE. I actually have those two programs. Just deciding what I want to do. I go back and forth.
  6. I'm a transplant from the south! Believe me, Florida... especially south Florida drives me to drink too. LOL
  7. I've ordered and it is due to arrive tomorrow. The only thing I'm not sure about is the R&S math. I guess we'll see when it gets here. I am going to try to get the readalouds at the library or little by little from Amazon.
  8. It is cheer, not gymnastics, so she wouldn't have to go that much. If she needs another day she can do a private lesson closer to home.
  9. Thanks for the replies. I'm looking at switching gyms for my daughter. I currently drive about 20 minutes each way and we would be driving about an hour each way to the new one. She goes at least twice a week. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy. :D
  10. My daughter is using the 1st grade Phonics Museum program. What should we follow it up with? More phonics? A spelling program? Any suggestions?
  11. Our new Princess. Santa brought her to our daughter, who chose the name. She is 9 weeks old.
  12. Is this thorough phonics/reading instruction? Is it fun with a nice mix of hands on? I'd love to hear from some who have used it. Pros/Cons. Thanks
  13. I bought the original FLL way back when my dd was a baby. I was so excited to check it out since my guys were too old and it seemed like something I'd want to use one day. I'm getting ready to start but now see the revised versions where 1 and 2 are broken into two books. Is that the only difference between them? There isn't any reason to buy the new versions, right? What about the audio companion? Is that nice to have?
  14. Thank you both! We will be doing several lessons a day while we finish K. I think she could go into first but want to make sure we cover the CH, SH, etc. Once we start 1st we'll go slower and just do one a day. I don't really have time to add anything else either since I take care of my parents, etc.
  15. What do you use after you finish? We'll soon finish the K portion (after ditching Calvert) and go on to 1st. Will she have all the phonics needed with that or what do we need to use something else?
  16. I would reuse for my own child if I didn't want the support & online services if I couldn't rebuy and really wanted to use them. I am using Calvert 1 with my daughter and I do enjoy the Brain Pop and other things so if you want full use and can afford it repurchase. If you can't, use it for your next child. I won't be destroying our TM but will keep it as our record of school for the year.
  17. We're doing Kindergarten with my 5.5 year old daughter. We've joined Classical Conversations and will just use fun enrichment things to go along with American History. Calvert Math 1 Veritas Press Phonics Museum - finish K and then do 1st Veritas Press Kindergarten Favorites
  18. Thanks for sharing that! My daughter is 5.5 and we talk about things occasionally but I know "the" talk is going to come one day and I'm really not looking forward to it.
