  1. That's a tough one. The kids did swimming things this past year and seemed to really enjoy it. They loved doing the ocean boxes (we made a lot of the animals with the air dry clay, which worked really well) and there are an awful lot of You-tube videos of all the different animals we studied, which they loved, too. They enjoyed the flying things we did the year before, but not quite as much as swimming things. We're doing land animals this coming year and have done the astronomy one in the past, which was ok.
  2. sitting on a wrap-around porch, drinking COFFEE☕ï¸â˜•ï¸ and watching a storm..... I could really do that with you. I've never done anything like that, but I imagine it would be wonderful.
  3. I am working at dying DS's hair. We got colorant specifically for "colored women". I hope this whole thing works.
  4. I have no idea. They just posted an notice on FB. I don't think she's old enough to have passed away from natural causes, but the notice just had a picture and said she passed peacefully with friends and family by her side.
  5. I just read in FB that Cheryl Lowe (Memoria Press) passed away.😢
  6. Jeannie, yer gonna do great!!!! I just got back from The Afsa. It wasn't as horrible as it can be at times. Now, I'm feeling amazingly lazy. I also want to eat chocolate chips, but I'm contenting myself with iced tea sweetened with stevia,
  7. yes, it was. And, without going into detail, we had a couple other opportunities, but DH put his foot down. We don't have the space, and my age were definite factors. Plus, my kids.... I love them, they are awesome kids, but they take a lot out of me. He was basically looking out for my sanity, while I was making an emotional decision. I still have twinges when I think.... what if we had, but I don't dwell on that. And this is a "contentment with God's plans for my life" Booya/h!!
  8. I'm doing this diet based on the book "Happy Hormones, Slim Belly" and it is a little different than other low-carbs that I've done, such as South Beach. The basic take on it is...2 days low carb, 5 days moderate. He's got a list of "free foods" that you can eat off of and you don't count as "sugar calories" and I think he gets that from the idea of glycemic index, not if it has carbs or not. On the low carb days you can have up to 100 sugar calories (25 total g of carbs) and moderate carb days it's 500 sugar calories or 125 g total carbs). So, anything you eat that's not on the free food list you have to count those carbs as extra. He says you can have dairy, put half&half in your coffee. But like yogurts... has to be plain Greek yogurt, not plain regular yogurt. All I know is that it is doable for me, I've basically been following it since last October, and when I do follow it consistently, I can take a pound or so off a week.
  9. I'm not sure how many I wanted originally. But we got the boys first, together. And then, of course you want a girl. So, we got the girl. And then, I always wanted a sister, so I assumed Annabeth would want a sister. And then we ended up getting two sisters for her, because they came together. And that's how we ended up with five.
  10. I need to go outside and pull some weeds before it gets too 🔥🔥🔥 outside. It's only supposed to be 103 today. I gotta go to The Afsa and help oldest DD pack for church camp. She leaves tomorrow for a week and she's so excited she can hardly stand it. It's the same place we go for family camp. I offered to drive a bunch of kids and my mom is coming with me for company, so it should be a nice afternoon. The drive is horrible. It's mostly in the hot, dry foothills and the road is incredibly curvy. About the last couple miles you come into the forest of cedars and pines and that's the setting for the camp. It really is gorgeous.
  11. We have a crotchety old grandma cat. Her dignity gets offended often and she's the queen of the dirty looks. But the whippersnappers have been working their magic on her. When they first came all they'd get is a hiss and a swipe of the paw. Now, one of the kittens actually pounced on Grandma's tail and all she did was look at it. I am truly amazed.
  12. That would be hard for me. I am really working on low carb, but what saves my life is the meat and cheese.
  13. You are right. You all are right. That's all I have to say. I will correct the way I am thinking!! Thank you!! I needed that.
  14. Good Morning!!! COFFEE☕ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸ Saturday!!ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
  15. We saw the movie War Room at church tonight. It was good. Lots of crying. And I kept wondering, how do people just pop tears out of their eyes and keep on going??? I do not ever cry in front of people because my face gets all contorted and red and blotchy. These people... the tears just pop out and roll down their face, but they keep on talking.
  16. I had a visual of this that made me laugh!!, this took me a while to figure out. I keep looking at your siggy and thinking, "Susan hasn't updated her signature in like 9 years!" But then I figured it out. I've been thinking about you and wondering how you were holding up!! ((JJM))
  17. I read somewhere about someone planting a garden of all poisonous plants that were used in murders in literature. Like, I think digitalis was used in a murder in an Agatha Christie novel or something like that, so they planted digitalis. That would be kind of cool.
  18. Now I know what you are talking about. I've seen and/or heard of patty-pan squash. Don't much like the look of them. I don't know what I'd do with them, either.
  19. Entitled young people. They don't have their own roses so they think you should just give them yours. So, what did you do? Go out and yell at them? I probably would have been too stunned at the audacity of someone coming into my yard and stealing my flowers.
