  1. I picked some tomatoes for lunch. I'm baking bread and cleaning up the school room. I'm feeling productive. It's quiet here since DD is at camp and one boy is volunteering this morning. I could get used to this.
  2. When I was little and if we happened to have a kitten at the time, my mom would wake me up by putting the kitten on my head. Nothing like getting woken up by a purring, whiskery nose poking into your ear.
  3. The ITT Doctor prescribes complete bedrest, generous helpings of Netflix and maybe a good book if it isn't too taxing, absolutely quite and housecleaning and meal prep by the minions. Take as needed for several days.
  4. Well, the dam hasn't broke yet. TBH, I don't think there's really worry about that, although the Kings River is higher than anyone has ever seen it except for pre-dam days (I think the dam was built in the 1950's by the Army Corps of Engineers, they're pretty good, aren't they?). I do expect they will warn us if catastrophe is imminent.
  5. Good Morning!!! COFFEE☕ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸ Monday!!😩😩😩😩 Hot!!!🔥🔥🔥
  6. If this happens, I'm just letting you know that I'm bequeathing all my homeschool stuff to the ITT Library. Except for my Latin curriculum. That goes specially to Slashie.
  7. I have a headache. Trigger Warning: educational content ahead. Reported. I am surrounded by Rod & Staff Grammar books. I am trying to figure out if I can cover what I need to cover in 4 days a week and then do kind of a Fine Arts Friday, which is what I'm thinking about.
  8. My mom says "umpteen million". I only had to fill out one waiver for camp. It covered everything.
  9. Our river is actually controlled by a dam, which is @ 97% capacity right now. It is possible, though unlikely, that the dam will break, in which case we will all be washed away and you will never hear from me again.
  10. I'm back from camp. That drive was butt. It's hot up there. The river is still rising. My aunt and uncle got evacuated. Last year, the river wasn't even there where they live, it was so dry. Just a bunch of sand in the riverbed. Now, it's flooded everything. Where we live, because of the topography, we still have another 20 feet of rising water before it floods us. And it's supposed to be in the 90's so the snow won't be melting quite as fast.
  11. We are back from church. Great service!! Got an invite for an Independence Day BBQ, so now we'll have something to do. I'm drinking a second cuppa and ketchupping until I have to make lunch and then take DD to camp. Slashie, I would not make a big deal out of it. That's what happens when you live with a family. He will take his cues from you... Lynn, kudos for even starting Treasure Island. That's not an easy book. We just listen to Jum Weiss retell it and call it good. Critter, I am looking forward to reading Virgil, too. I got MP's supplementary curriculum on translating portions of the Latin Vulgate, which I enjoy doing from time to time. It makes me feel like I'm doing something "real" instead of all these exercises.
  12. Apple fritters!!!! Oh yummmmm!!💕💕😠And this is a luscious cinnamonny juicy apple fritter Booya/h!!
  13. Good Morning!!!! COFFEE!!☕ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸ Sunday!ðŸ‘ðŸ‘👠Church💒 Hot🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 The Kings River is flooding because of the melting snow. We are not in danger, our home is a little higher, though the river is less than a 1/4 mile away. Other places are under water.
  14. Hey Slashie.... someone stole your identity and posted a new thread on the General Ed board. Something about LATIN sequence. I knew that just couldn't have been you, because it was about Latin and all.😜
  15. We watched Star Wars tonight. The original!! The best!!! Harrison Ford!!! Sigh!! Be still my heart!!!
  16. that is totally not fair!! Why weren't we invited??. I'm sure it is!! me, too!!!
  17. yay!!!! I'm glad it went well. Making people cry is a good thing.
  18. well....I don't know. Sometimes he has strange expectations of things. I think he had hoped it would be more drastic, but we got a blond color and the test spot turned out the way we wanted it and we did the rest of his hair the same and it didn't turn quite as light. I am a little disappointed, but I don't want to do it again for fear of frying his hair. it's supposed to be blondish, but it is more reddish.
  19. Well, the dye job is done. It turned out ok. It's not as drastic as I was expecting, which is good. It didn't get as good coverage as I had hoped. So...for a first time at home dye job.... I guess it turned out fine.
  20. That's a tough one. The kids did swimming things this past year and seemed to really enjoy it. They loved doing the ocean boxes (we made a lot of the animals with the air dry clay, which worked really well) and there are an awful lot of You-tube videos of all the different animals we studied, which they loved, too. They enjoyed the flying things we did the year before, but not quite as much as swimming things. We're doing land animals this coming year and have done the astronomy one in the past, which was ok.
  21. sitting on a wrap-around porch, drinking COFFEE☕ï¸â˜•ï¸ and watching a storm..... I could really do that with you. I've never done anything like that, but I imagine it would be wonderful.
