  1. We use this and love it. Although I don't think it is enough for history alone, which is how its supposed to be used. It is put out by SCM. www.simplycharlottemason.com HTH Erin
  2. My son is officially doing K work now and I am wondering if I am missing something. THis is what we are using: ETC 1 - I expect to be through book 3 by January Teach 100 ez lessons - On lesson 70 Math-U-See primer - just started last wk on lesson 7 HWT for writing flashcards, flashcards, and more flashcards He also does family devotion time, science, history, poetry, music study and weekly mem verse with my older kids and I. What would you recommend for art with him. I need something that I can do in about an hr each wk and something that maybe a 2yr old can "do" along with us (or so she thinks she is). My older 2 take art lessons once a week and he is dying to do something "cool" like them. No baby stuff he says. Thanks so much in advance for your responses. They are greatly appreciated!! Erin
  3. My son started Apologia Gen science and he is not liking it. Too boring for him. I am wondering if there is another curriculum out there that is more exciting for a hands on boy. I also need something that he can do fairly independently. Please help!! Thanks, Erin
  4. www.simplycharlottemason.com Its called Genesis through Deuteronomy We bought it and love it. We use it daily but I felt I should add more so we bought MOH. We are starting that also next week. HTH Erin
  5. I was just wondering how necessary the decimal algebra inserts were for Mathusee Pre alg? was able to buy some used starter blocks but they are a different brand than Mathusee. They are solid so the inserts would not snap in. Are they a must have? Or can we do with out them? Thanks
  6. These are our 7th grade plans that we have already started. Almost all of these things were recommended to me at Simply Charlotte Mason. They are all too easy for him. Nothing is challenging him. He has memorized some of the poems we have been reading. I have been wondering what to do for writing. I need something that is not too dull, as he is not very happy when it comes to writing. I agree that the Latin is super easy. We were going to a co-op latin class and this is what the lady recommended me to start the kids at. (the 2 doing it are 11 and 10). I like what we are doing but like I said it is just too easy. This is our 4th yr homeschooling, and I have 5 kids. He is the oldest, and is very bright. I was thinking about ordering AG for him after we completed JAG. Jag is the first 11 lessons in AG, so we would start where it left off. He is also great at independent work and can figure out almost anything on his own. Any challenging suggestions would be soooo great. Oh yeah and up until this year we have been quite eclectic. We just switched over to SCM about 2 months ago. Thanks Ladies, Erin
  7. I have a son who is starting 7th (11) and I am not sure that I am giving him challenging enough work. Please give me some suggestions as to what I should add here, I know he is capable of much more. Here is what he does: Bible - Children's Story Bible (As a family) Poetry - A Garden of Verses and another book of poems we read (As a family) History - From Genesis through Deuteronomy (SCM) Science - 106 days of creation studies (SCM) Math - Pre Alg printables from Mathusee until I can buy the curriculum Prima Latina Boys Daily Devotion Junior Analytical Grammar Dictation - Spelling Wisdom (SCM) Weekly scripture verse to memorize which I also use for copywork Geography - A Child's Geography; Explore His Earth Nature Study soon to start Also does kickboxing, karate and art classes Please give me some input as to what I can add to make it more challenging. Thanks so much! Erin
  8. I use JAG for my kids and so far we are loving it. They are learning so much and are having fun at the same time. I too was put off by the cost but had heard some good things about it, so we took the plunge. I would definitely recommend it.
  9. My kids loved Adam and His Kin. They are 9 and 11. It is on the SCM site as part of their curriculum read. It is supposed to be for jr. high and older. For children that are able to seperate fact from fiction. We just finished reading it and will definitely read it over. They were so sad for it to end. Would not recommend it for younger ages as I feel they would get confused.
  10. Homeschoolertracker.com Sorry I meant Homeschooltracker.com
  11. We are using Simply Charlotte Mason. I love how I can combine all of my children onto the same year. They make it so easy. I have an 11yr, 9yr, and 5yr. We are starting out with their yr 1. Ambleside seemed like it would be too difficult for me having 3 kids in 3 different years. Not to mention expensive as I like to purchase all of the books that are recommended. I only wish I would have discovered this sooner! =}
