  1. Hi Jewel, I did the Pufferfish unit with my girls when they were around 5 and 6. We read through all the informational sheets. The girls did coloring sheet and answered the questions sheets orally. We googled the fish and looked at pictures. We skipped the activities that were over their heads. They got so much out of it. I think most of these should be adaptable to younger ages. If you google "Curiosity Files" there are a TON of reviews from people who were part of the Schoolhouse Review Crew. I googled like mad before purchasing and noticed many people used them with younger ages. I bought all of mine during sales from $0.50-$3.50. I am incorporating them into our around the world animal and people study this year. I'll be using them with my 6 and 7 year old. I plan on including my 4 year old in some of the crafts and activities.
  2. That's not it, but thank you for sharing!! That blog looks great! I found this on Scribd. I think it looks really good. I think I may have to do my own thing because even after hours of searching on google, I have not been able to find the free curriculum I had planned on using. The weird thing is I even found the books on Amazon through links on the website. I tried googling the individual books with things like plants, botany, free, homeschool and still couldn't find it. Oh well, maybe it's a sign, lol.
  3. Thanks but sadly that's not it. I love the look of Guest Hollow and plan on doing it in a couple of years but I think it is a little too old for my girls at this point.
  4. Hopeful bump. The Mom made curriculum looked really good. I was hoping to do it with our girls for our last quarter.
  5. This is phenomenal!! Thank you for your kindness! I turned the .doc into a .pdf and put it on my iPad. Can't wait to start it with my girls!
  6. Hi, I am wondering if anyone here can help me. I came across a great plant study this week that uses the "The Life of Plant" series as it's spine. My husband has a bad habit of closing my browsers and I cannot find the link anywhere. I even went through my computer history and couldn't find it. Thank for your help! :)
  7. I ADORE these unit studies and paid for each one individually. They are free right now on Educents. There is some Christian content but if you are not Christian it could easily be skipped. http://www.freehomeschooldeals.com/free-18-educational-ebooks-from-the-old-schoolhouse-magazine/
  8. I just noticed they have made it to 45% off. Whoo hoo, they could make to 60% off. I really wondered if they would make it this time. Super hyped!
  9. Thank you so much for all your insight! You all have sold me on the Yesterday's Classic Library. I honestly feel a little nervous. Such a big purchase is a rare thing from me, but I am also really excited about getting them on my iPad. I am downloading the files to my computer now.
  10. I was looking at http://www.homeschoolfreebie.wholesomechildhood.com/ and was excited to see that the Yesterday's Classic's Library deal has been extended and that if you buy through their link you also get $29 of free audiobooks. I went with it. I'm downloading now. http://www.wholesomechildhood.com/YesterdayBonus/ They say the deal is good through tonight. I am pretty excited! I don't usually make big purchases like this one, so it also makes me nervous, lol.
  11. I personally wouldn't write off almost 2000 books based on a small sampling you were given. I definitely have bought some gems during past sales. I love these sales!
  12. I am trying to decide whether the complete collections of Yesterday's Classics or Heritage History e-books makes sense for us right now or whether I am better off buying a few here and there for now. I would love to hear what books you really liked from either Yesterday's Classic or Heritage History for Grades 1-4. Thanks so much for your help!
  13. If you look here you can look at the spreadsheet eedemarie made and how the books work with the movies. It is really nice! http://wateronthefloor.wordpress.com/magic-school-bus-science/
  14. I just got an email saying the Scholastic Dollar deals are on for 3 days. Yay! What are you getting? I got the Writing Skill Made Fun series and a book on Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. 16. Sadly a couple of the big items in there I just bought recently, one of them within a few weeks. It has made this bundle not really worth it to me this time around. I really want the Africa study but it isn't worth the entire bundle price.
  17. This human body freebie looks amazing too: http://www.freehomeschooldeals.com/free-anatomy-notebooking-sets/ This set by homeschoolbits looks great: http://www.currclick.com/product/68262/11-Human-Body-Speedy-Lapbooks-Plus-a-Checklist-%5BBUNDLE%5D . She has other individual lapbooks/studies for other body subjects for $0.25-$0.50 each. I really like her stuff!
  18. Jen the blogger at Guesthollow has put together a phenomenal looking human body curriculum. She has three levels available and it is free. We plan on starting it in a year to go along with Prairie Primer. http://www.guesthollow.com/homeschool/science/otters_science/otters_science_main.html . Everything of hers looks amazing actually.
  19. There's an awesome ECC facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/272390429444213/ I'm using parts of ECC this year.
  20. Does anyone know what the difference is betweek Boys and Girls of Colonial Days and Finding a New Land (which is an edited version of Boys and Girls of Colonial Days).. In the description on Currclick it says Finding a New Land greatly expands on Boys and Girls of Colonial Days but then it says it only includes 11 of the 14 stories of it. Do you prefer the original or the edited? Thanks. :)
  21. I'm curious what your favorite free resources/books are for Grades 2-4? Thanks :)
