  1. I so hope you are right, and that by the time my boys get to be young adults, tatoos will be passé, and something only old people used to do! That is not a battle I want to have to wage...too many other things to worry about with teens!
  2. Because I am interested to hear about this from anyone who has tried it as well :).
  3. Thanks, everyone! I guess maybe we can just get him started on the keyboard even without a teacher, initially. I will check into kinderbach abnd pianomals. Those sound promising, even for my littles!
  4. Thanks! I've heard of Alfred books. I'll look further into them. The problem, though, is that I don't play piano, and so will need to find a qualified ( and very patient!) teacher. I w hoping for maybe a DVD/CD/ interactive type program that I could do with him in preparation for starting piano lessons. I thought I could do a program this summer, and maybe start piano in the fall when he turns 6 ( and can maybe sit still just a little bit longer ;) . Ideas, experiences???
  5. My five year old son is showing such aptitude in music, that I want to start him with a basic program that might teach him some beginning theory, ear training, and sight reading. I want to get him a piano teacher soon, too, but wondering if there is a fun program that exists that I could start with him right away. Thoughts and suggestions?? Thank you in advance :)
  6. These look good! As a non- mathematically adept person, this looks like just the ticket for us in a few years!
  7. Nicole, she is on the Food Network on Saturday mornings. She actually did a whole episode that centered around homeschooling. I was loving how she presented it :) . I love when homeschoolers are presented in the media as normal :tongue_smilie: And speaking of CC, she did have a group at her house one day for science experiments. It was made up of friend's and relative's kids. Maybe that's a CC group? Oh, and I have not googled Beyonce yet:D . Off to try and find her!
  8. I have been taping her shows and watching them during free moments :) . I got curious about what she uses, but a google search and a perusal of her site did not turn up anything. From what I have seen, it looks like they have a lot of fun. Can anyone satisfy my enquiring mind ;) ?
  9. It was so great to meet Nicole, Jen and Paula! It was fun and very encouraging to get to talk homeschool with all of you! I think I absolutely need to go to one of these every year without fail....it is wind in the sails. Seriously, I feel so inspired, I can hardly stand it :) . P.S. I still have my ribbon tied to my purse :) Laura
  10. I will be going to Martin Cothran's talk, so maybe I 'll see you there :) . I have been sitting in the back ( I have commitment issues; I want to be able to slip out if I'm not getting into the talk:) . But, I know I'll like his talk, so I'll try and join you in the front:). Laura
  11. I am loving all the speakers, and having the best time! But, I looked all day for plaid ribbons, and didn't see any. Hoping to meet at least one person from here tomorrow. Was anyone else in SWB's last talk this afternoon? It was amazing! So much wisdom to glean!
  12. I'll be going to Sonia Schafer, too :) . Hopefully, I won't hit major traffic and will be there before she starts!
  13. Nicole, thank you for letting me know the food situation. Sounds like slim pickens! But, maybe like you said, there will be more there tomorrow. I will look for you, too. I am tall, 5 10, brown shoulder length hair, am carrying about 30 lbs too much ( can I still blame it on baby weight after 18 months :tongue_smilie:) and will be in all black tomorrow. Good to hear about Andrew Pudewa's talk. I am hoping to hear him tomorrow afternoon!
  14. Also, question for all: what speakers/ sessions are you most looking forward to? I am still trying to map out who I most want to hear. I am having to google a bunch of the speakers, because I've never heard of many of them! I don't know how I am going to fit in eating and looking at the exhibits with all of these lecture possibilities :tongue_smilie:
  15. My Little Wonders ( or anyone else who's there) Are there places in the convention hall to get lunch/ dinner, or do you have to go outside the Convention Center? Trying to mentally plan out my day tomorrow :) Bummer about having to leave Andrew's talk :( .
  16. I like: Winston (CS) Lewis Bentley Wesley Atticus Angus ( we love the Angus books!)
  17. That God created the Earth and it's inhabitants would be a " hill" ; exactly how much time he took to do so would not be.
  18. The nature of God The nature of Man Salvation by grace alone through faith alone through Christ Alone. The inspiration of the Bible Matters of Biblical morality and ethics I think that about covers it :) .
  19. Hey, another So. Cal mom of three!! :) At least your husband is willing to go! Mine would rather submit to Chinese water torture!! I hope you get to stay till YOU are ready to go!! :)
  20. I can't make it till Friday...hubs has to work and can't be home to watch the boys. Not sure I have a plaid ribbon, but will look for plaid when I get there. Hope to meet some of you there!
