  1. Are you looking for secular groups? American Heritage Girls, Pioneer Girls and Awana are great Christian groups.:)
  2. Yes, and the post above....that is what I mean....can't quite spit it out! Thank you!:grouphug:
  3. Hi, I could really use some advice/guidance/words of experience. We are finishing our first year of homeschooling and of course, it is much different than I pictured, not to say its bad, but the realism of life and younger children is much more apparent. I have dabbled in a few cirriculum, but now am really starting to feel like I know which direction to go and that is why I am here on this site. I am old enough (sad to admit) to remember having to memorize in public school since I attended before it was completely taken out. I truly believe classical christian education is our direction. I have a hodge podge of things right now, Horizons math, explode the code and hooked on phonics, Sonlight. I feel like I need to start over from scratch to follow this model. Has anyone ever done this and how did it go? Should I do so in the fall? My oldest is 6 in May...I feel awful that I may be inconsistent and confusing... help  Thank you, Lynn
  4. I did read it and found it fascinating!!!\ Thank you! :001_smile:
  5. I am so grateful for all your input! I am looking for a base we can build on during the week and of course, that may change, BUT that is one thing I have learned in the short time we have been homeschooling, nothing fits perfectly. So many things have to be tweeked to fit our hs family, cirriculum, everything. There is not a class in my area so we are in conversations about starting one. I have also located the other posts about CC. Thank you!:grouphug:
  6. Hello, I am looking into the Classical Conversations classes for my almost 6 yr old. My youngest will be 4 in April and I am not sure its too much for her? Could you all please tell me your experiences, pro and cons? work load, etc? things that may not be obvious from reading the website? Thank you! Lynn :grouphug:
  7. Hello, First let me introduce myself, as I am new to this board and new to homeschooling. I have 3 girls, ages 5,3 and 21 months. I have been researching homeschooling since last November. My oldest spent 2 yrs in preschool :-( but luckily had an amazing women who was as kind and loving as anyone I ever met. I started this year with MFW but really did not care for it. It just doesn't fit us. I do have Math-U-See and handwriting without Tears. I started reading the WTM and liked the concept. We are also working on character training right now and i am going to start MUS. Anyways, I am very interested in SL and was thinking of purchasing Core A but am wondering if I should wait until next school year, and just keep up the reading we are doing, math and writing. We are working on blends, as my oldest knows her letter and most sounds. Thoughts? Advice? I would so appreciate it!!! Thank you Lynn:)
