  1. has a t-shirt that just has "Well-Trained Mind" on it but not "Forums" http://www.peacehillpress.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=12 don't know if this link will work or not?? HTH:)
  2. If I had never heard of lapbooking before and you wanted to share with me what it entails and how to do it what would you tell me about it and what resources would you share? TIA!:)
  3. Thanks Rhonda and Linda, I was really hoping to hear this. I think ds would absolutely enjoy this... He is very creative when it comes to LA and he reads all the time even at meal times and in the car. Any and every where. So I figured this would be a good way to implement the other areas in with the literature he loves to read.
  4. I am wanting to know how teacher intensive this program is. I am considering it for ds 14 (for next year). He is currently doing AO Life pacs LA. And doesn't like it. He schools with DH at his business. He would have to do most of it on his own. He loves reading literature and creative writing. He's pretty good with grammar too.
  5. So happy you got your music. Music on YOUR blog does say alot about you! I'm headed over to hear!
  6. I have Playlist on my blog. I don't know if that is the same as what you are referring to or not. I could try to help if I can....;')
  7. The real issue is that this is an abuse case. And the court says they want children to be educated in public so that teachers and other people (strangers) in authority can know/detect when there is abuse. If this is their arguement I would venture to say that there are far more cases in which children are abused in the presents of people other than their own family. I think my kids being made to go to public school is abuse!
  8. I signed and posted a link to the petition in an email I sent to all I know. And I agree ladies. We can't sit back and see what happens. That's how prayer got taken out of schools.
  9. My dd (5) loves to do the letter tiles on the magnetic board. She pretends the letters/sounds are the "ingredients" then she uses an imaginary stirring stick to put the letters together (in a "bowl")--she always says "stir, stir, stir" and then she sounds out the word to read it. She uses the flash cards too--she stands on the coffee table like she's giving a speech and "reherses" them. I don't care either way but she is enjoying them and it makes her feel "smart" so I let her---of course! hehe!
  10. I like Explorer's Bible Study. Even for that young of an age. It is just right for that age and it is chronological so you can line it up it with your classical studies. It is a well rounded program with music and memory if you choose to implement that. It is non denominational also. http://explorersbiblestudy.org
  11. I am ready to phase in art and music for this next school year. For Dd 6 and Ds 7 I would like something that is straight forward and pick up and go. What curriuculums would you suggest?..... The only thing I'm picky about is for the music......if a music CD is included I want "real" music.....not a song that was played on a *lone electric keyboard* LOL:D Both children will attend a monthy hands on art class at a local art museum Any recommendations to research would be appreciated!:)
  12. and also, because I'm "visual" I went to amazon and CBD and made a wish list that had pictures of what I was looking for and took it with me so I knew what I was "looking" for....:) and also to compare the price. Which I bought most of my stuff there to save on shipping costs.
  13. and I will definately be going to the link provided. Thanks so much!:)
  14. Are you saying that they use these books for that program??
  15. I'm sure this has been asked many times before...BUT, Would these books be better for the grammar or logic stage? They would be used as a "resource" for a K'er and 1 grader as a read aloud or wait and use them in the logic stage as a read alone. What do ya think...:)
  16. Hey Momof7, You may be thinking of the series of books from Scholastic called "One Small Square". These books are *awesome*! My dc beg for this series to be read. And they have easy instructions for your own outdoor exploring!
  17. Dd read her first story all by herself!:) http://cornerstoneclassicalschool.blogspot.com
  18. My Father's World? You could combine all the kids with this. You will need to pick a program on each childs level for math and language arts. But everything is done for you bible/history/art/music. It is a CM/Classical/Unit Study Approach and the TM is very straight forward for you~hardly any planning. I think you'd need to go to the library 1X a wk for "book basket" I would consider something like this atleast for the first year so that you can concentrate on other issues such as "de-schooling" and generally getting used to schooling at home. I have heard ALOT of moms that use MFW and they really like it! I also have researched reviews at homeschoolreviews.com and every review was positive.... And I agree with the other posters with the books that they recommended you to read. This was the first thing that came to my mind! Hope I was Helpful! Katherine

  20. Thanks to all who replied to my post. I really appreciate all your knowledge! You have given me somethings to think about. First of all I need to read more on the subject! Thanks so much again! Katherine http://www.cornerstoneclassical.blogspot.com
  21. I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I was wondering what history program you have used in the grammar stage. I have my plans set in stone for next year Except for History. We are doing SOTW1 this year with MOH for the biblical worldview aspect of it. I want something more cohesive. I like things planned out for me. Even scriped. I have looked at: TOG TQ Biblioplan SL MFW Logos School History Curr. CM book lists AmbleSide Heart of Dakota MOH2 Veritas Press Memoria Press along with some others and I still am at a loss. Maybe it's because I just need to see all the components in the flesh. I'm really having a hard time with this. My main goal is that I want to do 3 4yr history cycles classically with a very STRONG biblical worldview added.
