I am looking for a detour for history. We have used truthquest history and history odyssey, SOTW, and probably something else I can't remember. My children are independent in their studies now and I want to take a side trip before high school starts. Any suggestions? Kids are 6 and 7th grade. I was thinking about doing geography for a year but don't know if that is something that would last. What about historical biographies has anyone done anything like that? Have you taken any detours from the normal studies (Ancient, Medieval and Modern) ?

How do you get your highschool student to read books that are required for Literature class and when they detest reading? I am stumped on how to accomplish this.

We are doing the ancients and we coming upon the lesson that says to read The Tales of Ancient Egypt, do you stop lessons until the book is finished or do you read the book and keep going to the next lesson? Thanks

but it was farther down, where it says Add the following to your Art, Inventions .... "Use of Iron began in 1600 BC by Hittites" we couldn't find anything on the subject of Iron on pg. 21

My children are on Lesson 7 of Ancients they are having great difficulties finding even the one or two sentences for the topic. This is our first year doing this curriculum. No teachers guide and no helpful hints on answers, all very frustrating.

I need a title for an atlas. My atlas doesn't have akkad or babylon. What kind of atlas do you have to go with History Odyssey Ancients level 2. Is there an old world atlas that I need?

Ancients Level 2. Lesson 2 says "Add Irrigation c. 8000 BC to the art, Inventions & Arch. section of your binder along with short summary. What is it exactly that I am adding? Then it says do the same thing with "Worship & Goddessess first began in 23,000 BC in the Fertile Cresent" to your Religion & Mythology section. Is this the timeline it is referring to? Thanks

Can anyone tell me about their experience with TT? How did you use the placement test? Did you stay at the grade level that you tested, like if you test grade 4 and they pass do you stay with 4 or do you move on to 5? That makes no sense if they pass the test for 4 you should be able to test in 5 not stay in 4. Well anyway what about the problems being so slim, how did that work for your children? Did you just reuse the same problems if the child needed more practice? What did you do if your child didn't understand the concept? Thanks
