@Just Kate, Thanks, the one I use imparted a strong flavor, but maybe it was when I was sautéing with it? And, I purchased a very expensive brand…I bet Costco would have a more affordable alternative in volume.

The avocado oil I’ve used is flavorless. Currently my avocado oil is from Aldi, so I’m not sure of the quality, but it definitely doesn’t add any flavor to what I bake or sauté. I don’t have a costco locally, but I bet you could find something less expensive there.

    Just Kate,

Did you have increadably fatigue? If so how long until you were able to do things like self care again?

    Thank you very much

I did not. I have no symptoms at all. They found the nodules in my chest during a heart MRI (which was done because I was born with heart issues and had open heart surgery at the age of 4. Heart MRI was just a follow up to make sure all is still well). This finding led to a CT scan and a PET scan, then finally the bronchoscopy. So far, we will just watch and wait. I have no current treatment.

I am praying that you feel better soon and that you get a good report from your doctor.

The first one is the bronchoscopy. My husband had that done. (He has been diagnosed with sarcoidosis of the lung but hasn't been symptomatic for five years).  I hope they are able to get you results soon.

That is also what I had done to diagnose my sarcoidosis.

I’m also glad to know that your husband is not symptomatic.

  4. I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I had a lymphoma scare back in 2021, which ended up being sarcoidosis. My sarcoidosis is completely asymptomatic (so far) and chances are pretty decent it will stay that way. I was diagnosed via a biopsy (lung).

If you want to talk or vent, I am here! I remember how stressful it was, especially when lymphoma was fist mentioned (along with lung cancer, as a second possibility) and how relieved I was when I got my proper diagnosis.

  5. My son had an attempted theft of his Hyundai Elantra (same issue as Kia). Not sure if you want to include Hyundais in your poll.

Ds had just started his freshman year in college and his car (2022) was parked in a parking garage. A police officer came to his dorm room at about 9pm on a Sunday evening to tell him his car had been broken into. We assumed at the time that it was just a regular idiot thief trying to find something in his car to steal. Two days later, dh met the company there to replace the window that was busted out. That’s when we realized that a thief tried to steal the car. We had it towed to the dealership and it took almost 2 months to fix it. Funny thing is that the 2022 doesn’t have the defect that makes it easy to steal. I joked that ds should put a sign in the back saying his car is a 2022.

This happened in September of 2022 and luckily, nothing has happened since. It made me very aware that some people are crappy though.

Thank you for sharing this!! Very helpful. I love having a basic routine and this looks great!

I know I need to really focus on stretching. I had started having some lower back pain over the past few months but it is getting worse since I’ve started working out (weird? I don’t know). My dh has dealt with back issues his whole life, which he has fixed by working out (strong core) and specific stretches. He’s been showing me some to help with my back.

  7. Went to the gym today and just did cardio. So I had my first full week of my workout plan! I hope to strength train three days and do cardio two days. I feel good that I did it! Here’s to hoping I’ll do it again next week.

  8. New to this thread, but I’d love to post for accountability. I joined Planet Fitness in January 2022 and I’ve gone on and off, but not consistently. My biggest issue was not knowing what to do. I would walk on the treadmill and see people lifting weights, knowing I should do more. But I was intimidated, so I did nothing. I had searched and searched online for a routine to follow, but I just couldn’t find anything that worked for me.

Fast forward to last weekend, I finally realized that my biggest problem is that I’m intimidated by the free weights and the Smith Machine. So I searched for a Planet Fitness strength training workout using only machines, and I went through the whole thing last week! Starting Tuesday, I did a warmup on the treadmill and then did a leg workout. Wednesday was back and chest, Thursday was cardio only, and then Friday I did shoulders and arms.

I feel great (well, sore but great)! Now that I have a plan, I am more excited to go to the gym. And my hope is that as I get stronger, I will branch out and use the free weights and smith machine. For now, I feel good using the machines.

One thing I need and don’t have is a good stretching routine. Any suggestions? And do I stretch before and after working out? I never see anyone stretching at my gym, so I tend to forget about it. But I know it’s important.

Thanks! And I’m excited to get to take part in this monthly thread 😃

I have one very similar to this that I wear when I need a cap. I’m not a “cap/hat person” but I always like to have one for certain outdoor things, and this has been the only one I like. It’s very lightweight and fits close to the head. Mine is an older style, but it’s the same style as this.

I got this hat in white for last year’s beach vacation and I now find myself throwing it on whenever my hair is kind of gross and really needs to be washed. Lol

  10. Update - I didn’t tip my personal trainer because she didn’t show up for the session. According to her coworkers, she was out of town and they were all surprised the app allowed me to schedule time with her. So I walked in the treadmill a while and went home. I guess I’ll give it a go again next week.

  11. I’ve had a Planet Fitness membership for over a year now and after going on and off and mainly doing cardio, I’ve decided to get more serious and add in strength training. Problem is, I don’t know what I’m doing.

Planet Fitness offers a one hour session with a personal trainer called Design Your Own Program. I called my location and spoke with the trainer directly before signing up on the app to learn more. She said we will sit down together and discuss my goals and then she will help me to create a plan.

This session is included with my membership and I won’t pay extra. But do I tip the trainer???

I bet you will find something that she likes at Pennys or Macys. Here, they both carry a wide selection of lovely spring dresses. Pennys in particular has racks and racks of them,

I agree to find something that your mom could wear to church or another wedding. I would choose one in a plain, lighter color or just a very subtle print, in case she is in some photos, so that she won't stand out brightly from the rest of the wedding party.

A pantsuit would also be fine, if that is easier for her, or if she prefers it.

Thank you for the suggestion of lighter color or subtle print. That is helpful! I don’t even know what colors they are using for the wedding.

  13. I know she would like to wear a dress, rather than pants. And she would like to purchase something new.

@Ellie I think the wording in the website about attire for the wedding was a little strange. Honestly, I think they were saying - wear your Sunday best (a phrase we used to use when I was growing up), also meaning don’t wear jeans.

  14. My nephew is getting married in two weeks. The wedding is taking place at a nice-ish resort (but not super fancy). Wedding is outside and reception will be inside.

The knot website says attire is - Semi-Formal- sundress, cocktail dress, or pants/skirt with nice blouse for the ladies. Dress pants with tie (suit jacket or sport coat optional) for the gentlemen.

My mom is almost 76 and about a size 12/14. She is beginning to become a bit feeble due to a knee replacement surgery that she’s having trouble overcoming.

Finally, the nephew is actually my step-nephew. We have no idea if my parents will be recognized as grandparents at the wedding or not - no one has mentioned it. My mom wants to look nice enough in case she is asked to be in photos but we are just not fancy people, so since she isn’t part of the wedding party, she doesn’t want to look out of place.

We are going shopping this evening, but I think we will probably need to order something. We live in a more rural area and our only department store options are Macy’s and JCPenney.

    Thank you!!!

I never checked out. And I notified them of what happened before they tried to charge my card and while it was still telling me to pick my meals. Here is the email I got and supposedly, I can still change the meals even now, but hours ago, they refused to cancel it. AND then they followed up by closing the pick my meals thing, sent a charge to my card (which I had already cancelled because of this), and informed me they were still shipping me food anyway.

You can either skip the week’s box or cancel altogether, as long as it is before this week’s cutoff date and time.
