  1. Alan Rickman :001_wub: Please tell me I'm not the only one...
  2. The only thing I can think of is using the browser. You can pull up Google Maps or do an image search for a map of Europe or whatever you're looking for. I looked on Amazon and there doesn't seem to be a book of maps for a kindle, but Google is free! :001_smile:
  3. Oh by that I meant I just turn off the wifi router itself, I'm kind of weird about having the wifi on more than it needs to be. I don't know if it actually does anything to the roku since its not getting a signal. There may be something in the settings, but that might be more of a hassle than just leaving it plugged in all the time.
  4. I turn off the wi-fi when not in use and at the end of the night I turn off the surge protector that the roku, modem and tv is plugged into. I've never noticed a problem turning it on and off that way, it just takes a while for it to reboot the next day. I didn't always do that, and I never noticed the roku get hot (not that it doesn't, I just never felt it) or any problems with it except for the occasional freeze up.
  5. I majored in history in college with the intention of teaching high school history (maybe one day...). I did practicums and student teaching in ps and it is absolutely... deflating. The teachers are under so much pressure to teach the content, teach facts and have students memorize the facts enough to regurgitate it onto the test. There's no depth of knowledge, and that doesn't even take into account the lack of motivation most of the students already have for history.
  6. I think that's a great point. I'm so anxious and excited to see his personality slowly emerge, whatever it is, that I can't tell if its just toddler behavior (such as being inquisitive) or his personality. But hopefully his real personality isn't "screaming on the floor every time we tell him no."
  7. Hey everyone! I'm brand new here, I was thinking about a thread that was posted earlier today about describing your children in three words and I thought I'd start one myself! Wish me luck :001_smile: My ds2 is my first babe and I described him as independent, inquisitive and mellow. I'm wondering: does that change? If you have older kids, would you have used the same words to describe them when they were toddlers? I would love for ds to be mellow when he is a teenager! :D
  8. So I'm brand new to this forum and I've been lurking for about a week. I thought I'd finally reply to something! :001_smile: We sponsor children through Compassion International and Gospel for Asia and we like them both. But I know for sure that 100% of donations for Gospel for Asia go to the field. The staff in Texas where they're located is fully supported by donations themselves.
