  1. I'm in here too. I live in Cheyenne. I'll be starting homeschooling with my 4 1/2 son soon. I'm busy compiling all my materials and I can't wait to get started. Elaine - please figure out a way to type that does convey your accent. The Aussie accent is music to my ears! In high school I had a friend from New Zealand and (when finally I was able to understand what she was saying) I just loved listening to her. Sylvia
  2. Great resource- I just reviewed Everybody Has A Body and didn't like it for my K. This was just what I was looking for!
  3. As I have only one child - this note wasn't a reminder it was a completely new idea for me to ponder. I am quite excited for schooling but I hadn't considered that later I might not have time for getting out. Thank you for that!
  4. OK, I've never heard that expression. May I borrow it? My husband helped to design my ring. I didn't get to see it until he slid it on my finger at the ceremony. (He claims to not be artsy but he does a fine job helping me decide on my earrings!)
  5. I'm a complete newbie to this site so, I cannot comment on what this board used to be like, but this seems to be the perfect opportunity to post the comment that I've been composing in my head for a few days. I have been humbled and awed by the outright generosity, helpfulness and respectful attitude that I have experienced in my few weeks on this forum. I knew that I would appreciate, at least generally, the teaching approach of posters here (TWTM) but I just didn't anticipate what I have seen, which is a true effort to help other people and frankly, people going out of their way to be respectful. I'm so glad that I have found this. Sylvia
  6. BTW, I forgot to add, thank you for the specific recommendation for how I can align the books. Your constructive criticism was just that... constructive. I have zero interest in re-inventing the wheel.
  7. I won't be starting history in K, I'm just looking ahead at AP's future books and they don't seem to be in a good order for WTM. (I'm an inveterate planner.) I would really like to start with one resource and stick with it.
  8. My son will be starting Kindergarten and I am seriously considering using Artistic Pursuits. In order to make use of its art history/great artists feature, does anyone have any advice regarding adapting it or supplementing it, in order to have it correspond to the four-year history cycle? Or do those of you who use it, use a different resource altogether to teach art history/appreciation?
  9. I am strongly considering using Artistic Pursuits but have a concern about how to use it as well as keeping the art (& artists bio's) on track with the history chronology. (I noticed that the future track for AP doesn't follow the four-year plan.) You mentioned that you are backing up the art appreciation with other spines - is that why you have done that? Either way, I would like to hear about others' experiences and any suggestions? :bigear: Thanks
