When your dh gets home, please go to the ER. Please...
I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'd rather have the doctor laugh at me for coming in...
-
Would any of you mind sharing which proclick you have?
TIA

An unfortunate name, but number2.com is a free site for ACT, SAT, and GRE, plus a separate Vocabulary program.

Thanks for sharing! I'm off school in 2 1/2 weeks, and will start putting these together then, if not sooner.

Didn't she offer to teach you how to cook?
Good gravy! Let's see...
Boil water: jello
Boil water: Kraft dinner
Turn on oven: frozen pizza
Thank goodness she remembered to remove the plastic wrap!

Thanks for the update! I'm glad that things are good for now. Still:grouphug:

A property management company is a good start. Maybe you could try local churches in the area? Many times they have leads on rentals, and the people might be more willing to work with you. Just a suggestion...

Can you share the recipe, and how you package it/decorate for gift giving?
Thanks!

I've been following your story...so sorry that it had to end this way. Unfortunately, this is a sign of our times. Good teachers are sometimes run out in favor of lower salaried replacements. Keeping you in my prayers...

I know that it's hurtful that they don't seem to make your dc a priority. A while back I invited MIL to lunch to discuss the fact that they never spend time with our kids. As soon as we sat down, she beat me to the punch and said she felt it was time to spend more time with the kids. And that is as far as it ever went. They will fly thousands of miles to visit other gkids, but won't make time for the ones that are 40 miles away. I gave up.
The one thing you can't get back is time, and I hope your MIL comes to her senses before the boys get too old. As far as the b-day party, it does seem a little too late for that sort of thing. Will this happen at holidays also?

I think you were a very gracious host, and went way beyond to make them comfortable in your home. I feel extremely sorry for the children; imagine what it's like to live like that.

I know this is an older thread, but if you have Netflix and are up for a good laugh, watch Nursery University. It follows parents as they attempt to get their precious into the "right" preschool that is a straight pipeline to Harvard. We've been watching at work during lunch.

Hillbilly Housewife has lots of recipes for situations like these. Check out the emergency food plan.
I like the suggestions above, and there is so much you can do with what you have. There seems to be a variety of food types, so you won't be stuck eating grilled cheese every night, etc.

That's been me for a week now...
I agree with the warm salt water gargle and the neti pot. I followed it with Tbl. of lemon juice/tbl. of honey. It seems to help.
I feel for you. Absolutely miserable feeling!

For the first time ever...
Going out to eat on Easter Sunday. The rest of the family made alternate plans, so we are going to relax and let someone else do the cooking for a change.

I've been feeling a bit runned down lately, and is has nothing to do with k12!

We pulled ds out of 7th grade right before state testing. It just didn't make sense for him to stay through the end of the year. It was easy to do, no problems whatsoever. He worked out of an extra math book that we had, and read lots of literature. It didn't make sense trying to duplicate a system that did not work for him, and there was not the much time left in the school year. The next year he had a routine and curriculum in place (TT Pre-Algebra, English, history, etc.)

This did happen to my close friend. At first I thought it was a joke. The issue was the fact that she was using a midwife and went into labor two weeks early. The midwife met them at the hospital but she had already given birth, assisted by the doctor on call.
When she and her husband wanted to leave, they were told the baby would have to stay for "further tests". The husband asked for policy in writing, was refused and security was called and he was escorted off the hall until he calmed down. They took baby home "against advice".
Social services came the next day for a home inspection and friend was questioned about her breastfeeding practices. They had one more visit, and worker said everything looked good. Another good use of our tax dollars.

I think you're doing a good job just by ignoring it so far. We have dealt with moms like this before in the same manner. If there is nothing there to fuel the fire, eventually it will flame out.

Spaghetti and garlic bread, salad
Sloppy Joes, sliced fruit, salad

Baked Potatoes w/Toppings, Salad (good use for leftovers)

Grilled Cheese and soup
Quesadillas
Quiche (good use of leftovers)
Stir Fry

We have become quite good at this over the past two years! Check out Hillbilly Housewife's website. Some good low-cost meal plans and recipes.

60 Minutes had a great segment on this cheating scandal. It aired about a month ago. The young man took it over and over. He didn't bomb the test. He consistently scored in the 2000's, according to the report. He came from a well-to-do family, but just wanted spending cash.
There will be a way around the photo id for those who are savvy.

What beautiful pictures! Great memories for your dc, as well. I love the picture of your dd on the grass in front of the pond. It defines relaxation...
