  1. What do your 1 and 3 yo do while you do all that cooking? I have made 3 batches of cookies today and the kitchen is trashed and dds are so bored. They did help me some, but some was not kid friendly.
  2. isn't it a miracle worker? I do think the time that I made my period go 45 days, I had taken too much. I took it for three weeks at ful dose because it was making me so happy. I think in January I will try to be really strict with my food habits and see if that is the real issue with the weight gain. I couldn't believe it when I went off that the smptoms came right back. DH thinks it is all psychological, but he is WAY wrong. It even took away most of my cramps. (in answer to your question, I did not get tested. I decided to try to self medicate first.)
  3. PS: I have to go to bed soon, but I will check this post inthe AM. Or you can PM me.
  4. I think it might help you..although that wasn't my issue at all. Make sure you don't over use it. A pea sized amount for about 10 days a month. Have you read up on it? It really helped my issues, which were anxiety and rage, but then I started to think it was making me gain a little weight, so I went off it and my rage and anxiety came right back.
  5. I am not going to spill my whole story unless I get a reply..but briefly it has been great for my moods, but caused late periods and possible weight gain. anyone BTDT?
  6. I agree with this except maybe to wait until after the holidays..if you can try not to stew about it too much. Otherwise it might become "the Christmas I confronted MIL"
  7. any good dvd recs for kids age 3-6. we are going on a 14 hour car trip and i want them to watch some stuff in the car. i particularly want some shorter things, not full length movies. thanks!
  8. I do second the "quit my job" post, but more than that... drinking 8 glasses of water a day with a splash of unsweetened cranberry juice. it really helps with energy and bloat and weight control and taking a high potency vitamen. i never believed in vitamens until i read "the mood cure" and tried the ones they suggest.
  9. could I get the lobster stew recipe for future reference?
  10. yours sounds freaking FANTASTIC. dh's side of the family wouldn't eat half of that though. I could eat all the salmon myself though!
  11. in-law family (7 adults and 3 children) are coming over on Christmas eve. They will have eaten sandwiches at MIL's, then we will all go to church and be back at my house to open a few presents around 7:30. I am serving Christmas cookies and coffee. (probably wine for me:lol:) MIL is bringing chex mix and nuts. I was thinking maybe artichoke dip? should I also do shrimp cocktail or is that going overbaord? a cheese ball? if so, where do you get a good one? any suggestions are more than welcome.
  12. Funny you should ask. I just ordered "Straight from the Heart" for my SIL and I noticed all the reviews said that it was a very wholesome and clean romance. if you are looking for that kind of thing. I have not seen it myself though.
  13. I was like that at that age. (maybe still a little) I would really feel devastated when I thought about a disappointment like that. I wonder if some of it was hormonal. It would have helped if my mom had taken me a little more seriously. Not to overindulge, but to let her talk about it and feel sad. Maybe find her another series to read too.
  14. My husband looked like that at 23, and when he tried to grow facial hair, it would only come in thin and patchy. Now at 33, he is starting to look a little better...I mean older :001_smile:
  15. thanks everyone. I am still undecided :tongue_smilie:, but I guess leaning against it for now. She is reading and we read the books together. but I would not even be considering it except that her two special friends are getting one. I wish it wasn't two weeks until Christmas that I am trying to figure all this out. I need time to plan and consider things like this.
  16. moms of girls WWYD? DD does not really play much with dolls, but her two best friends have American girl dolls and she is saying that she wants one for Christmas. this is all she has asked for except a box of kittens (ridiculous of course, I am alergic..if you want to see a really funny story about that see my blog) Anyway, technically we could afford to buy dd an AG, but I am not confident that she would play with it too much and it is a LOT of money for one thing. If she had loved dolls and babies all along, I would be thrilled to buy her this one special doll, but she hasn't and she doesn't. Help me think through this.
  17. $950 for 1700 sf in a not popular neighborhood with terrible schools. built in the 70s.
  18. DD turns 6 next week and can read and write. We do SOTW and Abeka math. When will she be ready for WWE and what is it like? Is there a place I can look at it online? Thanks!
  19. Margaret is right about the black shears being outdated..really nude hose is too. Bare legs or tights are "in." That being said, I go with DH to a lot of conservative political events and still see it. Unless the original poster is going to a super trendy event with mostly twentysomethings, it is not going to matter. She should wear what she thinks looks nice with her dress.
  20. WOW that is a lot! Thank you. -Laura
  21. I did a little search to see if someone had already posted this. Sorry if they have and I missed it. I am looking for some lovely Christmas books/stories to add to our list. I know about The Best Christmas Pagaent Ever and A Christmas Carol. Then the blog http://mthopeacademy.blogspot.com/2008/11/favorite-christmas-reads.html gave some good ideas. Anyone else?
  22. what do you like to use to study the human body? please include any books, hands on tools or projects you use. thanks!
