  1. You know where my mind went? As soon as I read "the suspect is still at large..." and saw his picture? "Dear God, please protect all the black young men in Atlanta who look like this young man, but aren't him....." Which is a whole other atrocity/symptom of our nation's illness in & of itself.
  2. dinner is cooking, then time to go to fencing @history-fan, oof, we just did that recently - it really is a whole stack. So very much.
  3. went down the eMeals site and picked - Greek Stuffed Potatoes. Will need to pick up stuff at the store, but as we'll be next door for the guys' haircuts later, that is not a problem. Whew. Now I have time for a snack before heading out.
  4. had a nap sent some emails still undecided on dinner....need to just pick something. Decision fatigue. :sigh:
  5. did school with DS checked in on Grandma - she's on her own since yesterday, and doing good; I'm going to try and visit Thurs and make sure need to figure out dinner and then take a nap - trying to wait on DH to get home, but he's running late....
  6. While paying it off gets him out of debt, it still leaves him using someone else's car. If he can get a few more years out of it by fixing it, then he could repair it, spend the money to pay it off slowly as he's doing, have a drivable car for a while longer, and Mom gets her car back as well. If he pays it off/salvages it instead, he still either needs to keep using mom's car, or find another vehicle to use (or he/his wife share the one she just bought), which would likely lead to him buying something else and still having a payment anyway, ya know? Possibly a higher payment, b/c used cars are $$$ right now. And then it's still a used car, with now an unknown history, and possibly similar problems. Stick to the car he knows, repair it, get a few more years out of it, pay it off during that time, and by then hopefully be in a better place to make a good decision.
  7. Okay, got the rest of it figured out, need to run to the store most likely at some point for black cardstock for a craft, otherwise, all set
  8. Got history figured out -- the kids asked for "airplanes, but in detail" and "women!!" (the girls were annoyed that all the people that day were men). History of aviation, and highlighting important female aviators -- done & done. Yay! Now to figure out the rest...
  9. @HomeAgain, your math stuff sounds amazing!!! Wow! Also, "repeat the serenity prayer ad nauseum" could likely stand in for all of us, with all of our kiddos, of whatever ages (but certainly 13 yr olds!) -- hugs!
  10. Good morning! Our fencing tournament Saturday was both of our's best yet -- I have never before won my first elimination round bout, but did this time. Yay! And only lost 15-9 in the next one, which was against the girl seeded 1st (she ended up finishing I think 5th or so). I finished highest from bottom than I've ever finished (32 out of 38). Yay!!! DH always wins his first elimination round bout, and then usually loses the 2nd one by a very small margin; this time, he won both, placing him in the Top 8, and then had a really good bout in the next one, also only losing 15-9 (to the kid who ended up placing 2nd); DH ended up 7th out of 25, which was high enough to earn his first rating (E) - no more "unrated" next to his name! Made for a tired Sunday, but then yesterday was good -- one more class day to go for me. (well, one more Mon, then one more Weds after tomorrow). So, today's list: ....coffee ....prep for 2nd Grade tomorrow -- research/put together stuff from their "we want to learn about...." lists ...school with DS -- make sure he understands his chem concepts for their in-class quiz ...start cleaning/helping DH prep for his work party (here at the house) on Friday ...check in w/my aunt re: when does she leave Grandma's and who (if anyone?) is coming down when she leaves ...do some sewing?? if I have time/? (quilting) ...figure out dinner ...go to fencing ...come home, veg out
  11. Thank you; I ended up having my best tournament yet (both of us did). It was a lot of fun! I'm sorry your dog isn't doing great. Our oldest dog is just starting to hit that "oh, he's getting old, huh...?" stage.
  12. figured out class party details, enough to send the email to the parents, so sent that DH got all the fencing gear sorted, so that's ready to go - need to pack in our clothes and all cooking dinner, then vegging out
  13. Home - DH did make it home in time to go with me to the appt, which was good. DS is officially renewed with a legal driving permit/provisional license/whatever they call it when he's over 18 but still learning to drive. He *should* be good now to fly for our vacation, too. (Passport is *also* expired, so....but we are going local, and the license will work, thank goodness). Got already peeled/cooked shrimp to make dinner easier -- going with pasta vs. enchiladas, so that should be good and easy. Headache is working its way out/through, so other than feeling drained from therapy, I feel better. Just tired now. Going to veg for a bit before making dinner, and then I think the plan is to finish Shadow & Bone. I'll leave DS his assignments to work on for tomorrow, and review with him on Sunday as needed.....with all the running around, we never had the chance for school.
  14. had a nap (ish) DH still waiting? being processed? for DS's renewal, but at least they got it sorted I think; I may go to our appt this afternoon solo, if they aren't done in time Need to find food, but trying to fight off a headache trying to form, so not sure what I want to eat....that's up next
  15. okay, 1st grade stuff is printed, taking my nap - fingers crossed DH/DS have success in renewing/getting whatever next thing DS needs
  16. home from tutoring - that went well, despite the distraction of a fire truck/ambulance across the street (visible from the window of the room where we work) DH is working on fencing gear, and the clothes are drying (hanging &/or in the machine, as fits each type) K stuff is ready to go All documents successfully gathered, I think, for renewing DS's license/permit/whatever now that he's 18 - DH and he are heading out shortly for that appt DH & I decided we'll make shrimp enchiladas for dinner tonight, so will stop at the grocery on the way home for the shrimp I'm going to get the 1st grade stuff ready, then take a nap
  17. Trying to figure out what to do for DS -- he has his learner's permit, which expired when he turned 18. Not sure what the next step is - DH thinks it's a "restricted license" so is making that appt, but they do not make it easy to figure out....here's hoping we get an appt soon/asap. ETA: oh, good! they have a slot at 1:00 today...now to gather all the necessary documents and such...
  18. My list today: ....coffee ...prep for K & 1st for Monday ...tutor my tutor kid today - last one of the school year ...school with DS ...appt this afternoon ....figure out who is cooking dinner, what is for dinner, etc. ...quilt some??? ....remind DH check our fencing gear, help as needed, get everything ready for tomorrow (early morning tournament here in town) ...wash/dry the fencing gear & my wool stuff (in washing machine now) ...do some planning for my end of year party, email the parents ...check in on my grandma, see when my aunt goes home, plan to get down there before then (and figure out who is taking over after she leaves) ...veg out, go to bed early(ish) so we can get up early tomorrow I think that's about it....need to get a move on, as the tutoring hour always sneaks up on me....
  19. Had a nap - yay! Woke up to a text from DH, wanting to take a crawfish cooking class, LOL! I said sure. Need to put away my stuff from the Open House today, tidy up a little down here, and figure out timing for starting dinner and such.
  20. Did school with DS Waiting on DH to call, then a nap
  21. Home. Only had one parent stop by during the open house, which was pretty odd. Normally my table is non-stop (our whole thing was lightly attended, not just me). Need to check in with Oldest and see about dinner tonight - his whole group, or just us - so I can take out meat. I would LOVE a nap, not sure I have time. Need to do some research on some stuff.
  22. Oh, (((hugs))), @mommyoffive; that would shake me up, too. Any of us, I imagine. prayers for your kid's friend (and their family too).
  23. So, my DH just does the free trial, then immediately cancels the next day (or the same day) - you still have the free (week, month, whatever) but you've already canceled, so no worries/no issues. How/when he figured out to do it that way, I have no idea, but it's genius and works every time.
  24. in the realm of who does it *right* -- all the streaming services we use. DH routinely signs up for a month, cancels immediately, we have that service for that month (to watch whatever thing just debuted/just finished being released), and then we don't have to forget to cancel later. We've done this with all of them so far: netflix, disney+, HBOMax, AppleTV, etc. No issues with any of them, and then we're never paying for more than one at a time, and not paying for them when there's not stuff we want to watch.
