  1. finished next week for 2nd grade waiting on DS - he's not ready for edits yet, so killing time until I go tutor, and will help him edit when I return and before I go to fencing hopefully one/both parents are around to discuss the remaining schedule
  2. got this week done for 2nd grade took a nap - battling a minor sinus headache thing heading up to check DS's progress and see if he's ready to turn in his psych paper or not
  3. I think 1st is ready for both weeks
  4. Dh took a nap, so I went upstairs and cleaned the sewing room He's up now and has left for his & DS's dentist appts, so I've printed/prepped all the things for K for this week/next week (really next week/week after, but whatever) Pausing to find food and then work on 1st grade stuff, etc.
  5. Good morning, @ScoutTN! (And everyone else...) Today I have to do this week *and* next week's school prep (last week of the year!) b/c next weekend I'll be prepping for/watching DS graduate....egads! So, today's list: ....coffee ....prep for K for this week & next ...prep for 1st for this week & next ...prep for 2nd for this week & next ....iron on the letters onto the quilt ....clean/tidy the quilt room ....make sure DS finishes/turns in his psych assignment (edit as needed for him) ...go through the pantry "party goods stash" and see what I need to get (or not) for both the Grad party and the class parties ...tutor this afternoon -- talk to the parents about May's schedule, that I can't come back in the fall, and do they want me over the summer ...come home, eat, go to fencing if DH is still feeling well enough Some of that may get punted to tomorrow, we'll see, but that's the goal for today....
  6. home from tutoring - the girls were falling asleep today. Sigh. I need to talk to the parents about May & beyond, but they are rarely actually around.... everyone is home today, so we're going to watch Dune 2 via streaming (rentable for $20) tonight, starting it shortly so it's over in time for me to go to bed on time. I tidied the living room after dinner, so that's off the list.
  7. got the party detail email sent out, heading to tutoring
  8. took a longer nap than I meant to got DS going on the psychology stuff have dinner going -- b/c of the too long nap, too late to crockpot it, so cooked the sausage, cooking the potatoes, and then will move to crockpot on low to simmer/mix the flavors and such got the letters figured out not much else, b/c, too long of a nap
  9. Went to the grocery store - got everything for dinner, and the stuff we'd normally get tomorrow, b/c DS is skipping church again, which throws off our grocery schedule Checked the stuff for school tomorrow - which I should have done before I went, b/c I need star stickers -- will check my stash here, hopefully I have some put away groceries and have a plan for dinner (potato soup in the crockpot) touched base w/DS about school, will check in again after I lunch/nap next up - lunch, fold clothes, take a nap
  10. finished the electronic decluttering
  11. updated my files decluttered some electronic stuff, need to sort through a few more but need more coffee and food first
  12. Adding my calming thoughts, @mom31257. Will have to catch up about the accident, @ScoutTN; sounds like it wasn't terrible? I hope the insurance stuff all goes smoothly. And the cold leaves soon! My day today....still sorting it out. The only firm thing is to help DS with school as needed, and go tutor this afternoon unless the mom cancels. The rest should look like this: ...coffee ...make sure things are set for tomorrow's class ...decide plans for the class party, email parents about it ...update my registration records and such ....declutter electronic stuff (old files that I no longer need, etc.) ....fold and put away laundry ....check w/DH as to who is cooking dinner, plan as needed ....figure out where to hang things (and hang them??) ....tidy up the living room ....help DS with school as needed (mainly, chat w/him about his assignment due on Thurs, make sure he gets a start on it) ....trial the letters for the title of the quilt, see if they'll be good in the empty space or too crowded, iron them on if they're good there ....clean up the sewing room so I can move onto the next step ....at some point, probably take a nap ....go tutor this afternoon ....come home, eat dinner, veg out Some of that may flex to a different day, we shall see....
  13. Okay, I finished all of the characters, but not the title or the steampunk gears in the corner. Here is the "so far" view -- this portion is the mattress sized middle of the quilt, the final quilt itself will have a larger blue border around the edges to make it "quilt sized" but I wanted all of the characters featured in the part that would be on top of the bed. These are from the video game DS designed/made. Took roughly all of the Eras Tour to draw the figures the first time, then a couple episodes of Grey's to redraw the ones I had to flip, then about one CD's worth of music per figure to cut them out and pin to the design board, and now about a CD's worth of music per figure to get them affixed to the quilt top and add the details thus far. They all need detail stitching yet, too, but that will be later.
  14. @ScoutTN - yes, will do! Got the steampunk dude on, and the spider queen, as I realized I need those 2 on the edges so I can space the middle dude (the crow guy) properly. *Then* when all the folks on the bottom row are on, I can add the main character & foe in the middle. Taking a break, as that took 2 rounds of a CD -- the spider queen has a spider web pattern all over her dress, so I had to affix her to the quilt top, then freehand cut various spider web lines for all the parts of a her dress. Oof. Glad to have the hardest one done.
  15. So glad they found a spot for your campout, Scout! I hope you do kick the cold by then! Today I mostly plan to work on the quilt. We went to our exercise class, DH will go to fencing, I will stay home and work through adding the figures to the quilt, one figure/one CD at a time. No other real plans, but that's a lot in itself. Going to add: -steampunk wrench dude -main character -main character's main foe -spider queen -cape & crow dude -steampunk gears -letters/title In that order, I think. Maybe reverse cape/crow dude & spider queen, b/c she has the most complex details to add. Happy Tackling...
  16. sent some emails I remembered I needed to send - yay, me!
  17. Oh, @ScoutTN, I hope they/y'all figure out a Plan B for the campout! Yikes!! That sounds like a very maddening headache! We are home from the appt -- it was fruitful, I think. Now to rest ???, eat dinner, veg out (or sew??). Need to look at the list -- did I do anything on it??? What is left to do??
  18. home from my Friday morning gig doing a quick tidy-up before I take DS for his haircut DH figured out a plan for dinner, that does not involve the grocery store *or* me cooking, so that's a win
  19. took a brief nap/rest, and a shower. DH came in to talk to me while I was in the shower - that helped, b/c with the curtain, not having to see each other, etc., we both were able to say what we needed to say, and things are back to normal. So, that's good. Ate breakfast, need to see what I need to do before I go tutor my Friday kids.
  20. Good morning, all. Bad night/morning here - fighting w/DH, or he's mad, and I'm mad, but we're not talking....anyway, too much to type out, I'm sure it will be fine, but also resulted in not much sleep/not good sleep last night. The crux of it, on my end, is I need to learn to speak up for myself sometimes when he gets crazy ideas, instead of just going along with it. That's hard for me. Anyway. My morning/day today -- ...coffee, coffee, coffee ...tidy up all my mess on the table/dining-office from yesterday's stuff ...make sure I'm all set for my tutoring kiddos this morning ...go do that ....maybe sneak a nap between that & DS's haircut this afternoon ....DS's haircut at 1 ....come home, eat a snack, take Middle to our appt this afternoon @ 3 pm (DH is supposed to meet us there) ...come home, figure out who is doing what for dinner ...hope DH & I are talking by then?? Or send him to video game with the kids and I'll hole up in the sewing room and work on DS's quilt? ...go to bed, try again tomorrow Also, the weather is gross and gloomy, so that's not helping.
  21. Two hour nap! Bliss! Answered some emails that came in (one wanting to know would I have enough kids sign up that Kinder actually makes in the fall - umm, yes; the bigger question is, how early will it fill up?). Going to go start fusing figures - allowing myself 45 mins to an hour (1 CD) to work on that, and will snack/rest after until time to tutor (I've learned I need a "buffer zone" before tutoring, I can't go straight from one "work" thing to that, or my mind is frazzled).
  22. okay, school prep is done, bag is ready for tonight, I've checked in on all the kids who are up and they are all on track - time for me to squeeze in that nap! I'll need it with the long day ahead!
  23. praying for your friend, @mom31257; that sounds so difficult!
  24. Feel better, @ScoutTN! I hope the cold leaves soon! My day today -- ...coffee ...make sure everything is ready for the class expo tonight ...school prep for Monday ...start fusing the figures to the quilt top ...get a nap! ...make sure everyone else is doing everything they are supposed to be doing ...go tutor this afternoon (unless the mom comes to her senses & cancels - yesterday was a disaster! All the girls could think about was leaving to go see the new baby & mom at the hospital....) ...drop DH off at a Starbucks, so a friend can pick him up for fencing ...go to my class expo ...go to fencing for the afterwards hang-out ...come home, collapse into bed Hopefully the day is more restful than I think....
