  1. I believe Joanne was being sarcastic. :) She's a fair-minded lady who would find this sort of thing rude. T.
  2. This is one of the important reasons a friend of mine left her Amish church; she couldn't understand the sermons. Now, that church district preaches in P.A. Dutch. Tori
  3. One of the best things I ever did as a young person was embrace Christ. The best thing I ever did as an adult was to leave Christ. I thought of Anne Rice when I read your post :) I see that you have linked to an article. I wish you much joy and freedom, Joanne. Tori ETA: Ah, on another reading I see how our views differ, but I still wish you freedom in your decision to still serve your Jesus divorced from Christianity. :)
  4. I'll try to pm you soon. :) I went from non-religious childhood > to religious upbringing by friends' families > to born again experience in teens > missionary and Evangelical Christian for years > very happy paganish atheist. There is joy in finding your own path. And you'll know your path by the sense of contentment you find there.
  5. Ooh, interesting! Thank you, I'll look into that. Tori
  6. That does help, Yvonne. Now, does it actually teach the language. I'm bilingual in French, but my children are not. Would this merely be used to teach target subjects (maths, science, history, etc.) in French, or would it be used for actually teaching the French language? Thanks again! Tori
  7. Hi, all. I'm pretty new to this board, but am excited about having such a wonderful resource here at my fingertips. Can anyone tell me about the language courses related to CNED? I've been Googling around but can't make heads or tales of it. Can US residents use it? What is it? Thanks so! Tori
  8. Lonesome Dove is wonderful. It's the only western to have ever won a Pulitzer. Even if you don't like western, just think "Pulitzer" and you'll be glad you did.
