  1. that is sooo funny that we have different ideas of clutter. I never thought of that. Having everything filed in a drawer and no workbooks lying around sounds like heaven to me, yet opposite to you. :001_smile:
  2. I tore up SWO and a preschool workbook for my boys and it was FUN :-) I cannot stand clutter AT ALL. A million piles of books would drive me crazy, but I was also nervous about tearing up a pretty workbook. Yikes my OCD will not get the best of me
  3. I have a bunch of acquaintances where I live, but no true friends. I have 2 BFF's that live 5 and 6 hours away. One from birth and one from college. I am jsut so laid back and such a homebody that it is hard to find a real good friend because I dont need to gossip, or call a person everyday, or go and spend a lot of money. I am happy to chat once in awhile and hang out over coffee or at the park every now and then. I think the main issue is I havent found anyone who loves to be around their kids as much as I do. I dont want to leave them and go to the mall- I like to do this with them. (dont get me wrong I LOVE my Bunko nights once a month, but mostly I take my kids and DH with me everywhere or do things they want to do) I also hope to find someone close that I can connect with though. I also love this forum and thats why I am trying to get to know a few of you ;)
  4. I am a big homebody. We are also in debt paydown mode and so we don't get out of the house much. We put a LOT of time and energy into our house, animals, and 2 acres. We sometimes only leave once a week to go get groceries. We live in the country and we love our lifestyle. I am curious as to what your days look like when not schooling? I love getting a peek into other peoples lifestyles :) We raise whitetail deer, turkeys, chickens, and labs. We also have cats, fish, turtle, and a parrot. So we spend a lot of time taking care of and playing with our animals. (One day I hope to buy the 3 acres next us and get some horses which is my true passion) We have a huge garden and I do some canning. We have a big plastic baby pool and a sprinkler that the kids just love, so we are out there pretty much everyday in the summer. We have a lake right down our road and a pond right next to us so we take nature walks and fish. We are avid hunters and so there is always some of that going on. We ride the 4 wheeler a lot also. I am constanly cleaning and organizing while the kids play with their toys. And of course right now I am planning like a madwoman for my first year of HS'ing. We all read and play board games and play on the computer. We love going to yard sales and spend pretty much every saturday doing that. About once every 6-8 weeks me and the kids visit my family about 5 hours away. Once a month we try and go do something outside the house, such as Monkey Joes or go see a movie. Right now my DS4 and 2 are in no outside activities and DD7 goes to a few free commuity programs. Basically its the simple life for us. I love it. It really makes the kids appreciate when we do go and do something. As we pay off more debt each kid will be allowed one or two activites, but other than that I have no desire to run around and get busy :D How about you?
  5. It looks great! I love self made planners...sooo many good ideas.
  6. This part is annoying me too, but I ran it through my head and just wrote a note on the page that needs to be transferred. I am making a weekly To Do Binder with 5 folders in it for the 5 days (we are really only doing 4 days of Core subjects, but the 5th is for catch up) So this way I can just transfer the page to the next folder. If I have to transfer one to the next week, I will just put it in the day one folder for next week. I LOVE post its so I will make a note of any "transfers" also just to make sure ot all gets where it needs to go.
  7. you mean the maalox, benadryl mix? I cannot see why they couldnt swallow that. I wonder if my doc has some kind of different mouthwash with something in it that they can't swallow a lot of? The stuff they gave my sister had 6 different ingredients (she cant remember all of them) Maybe I will just try the Maalox and benydrl mix myself. although the kids seems a little better today and havent complained yet and they ate pancakes. They both still have the sores though.
  8. Not a thing. He wouldnt have even mentioned the mouthwash if I didnt ask. And he is a well known highly recommended peds doc here. He is never big on handing out meds. Very laid back...too laid back sometimes. He didnt even give me any info on what to look for for dheydration and the meningitis. My sister had a horrible case of this a few months back and the clinic she went to 4 times never did know what it was. It wasnt until we were in the ER that the doc told us what it was. She had been dead sick for 2 weeks and all they gave her was the mouthwash. They never mentioned the complications or things to watch out for either :001_huh: Thankfully my boys are still eating and drinking well. I dont know if its because their case is not severe (I cant imagine it much worse) or if it is because they are boys and nothing stops them from eating :D
  9. Thank you for this! My doc basically told me nothing (he sent us for a strep test and they simply called to tell me it was neg and they probably had the HFMD) I asked about the mouthwash because my sister had this awhile back and he asked if they will spit it and not swallow and I said no so he said no) I read online it was mainly Maalox and Benadryl, I will see if they will take it (they are major weary of taking anything because they hurt so bad) thankfully they are eating and drinking just fine.
  10. We just came up with ours....Deer Creek Academy. Because everything we do or say....pertains to deer :glare:
  11. I read they can keep getting it. YUCK. They both had 104 fevers for 2 days with it too. I am rotating Advil and Tylenol. Super sucky virus/disease.
  12. I think its actually called a disease, but I refuse to call it that. UGH it so nasty! My two DS's have it and the sores in their little mouths are DISGUSTING! So I havent slept in 5 nights because they just cry in pain all night. There is some "magic mouthwash" you can get to numb the pain, but they wont spit mouthwash out so I cannot give it to them. It is breaking my heart to see them like this and be able to do NOTHING for them. It can last for 10 stinking days and apparently the sores will end up on the outside of their mouths. :crying: I HATE VIRUSES. I HATE having my babies in so much pain. Tell me someone else lived through this and made it out OK
  13. HECK NO, but I wish there was. All of the mean, heartless people I know get ahead constantly. People who wouldnt give me a penny if my house burnt down, get thousands of dollars handed to them and they sit at home on unemployment. And there is my mother who gives every last penny she has to others, and no one ever returns the favor and she can barely make ends meet. One of my last FB status updates was about how I thought Karma and Justice do not exist. :D
  14. I just bought the paperback and thus havent used it but I will say I am impressed by how sturdy it feels. The cover, spine, and pages are pretty thick. I checked out the hardcover form the library and it is huge. I do like the size of the paperback better also :)
  15. I was wondering what everyone does for Reading? I am mostly following WTM and so my 3rd grade DD will be reading a lot for History and Science. Do you assign your DC's reading to go along with what you are studying or do you assign things on top of all that? I have read all the threads about where to get booklist ideas from, I guess I am more wanting to know how much you schedule and what do you mostly schedule? Do you have them notebook or narrate what they read?
  16.:sad: I reallly needed to start as soon as possible seeing as it is my first year and I will also be babysitting 2 kids when ps starts. I wanted to get a jump on it so that I hopefully wouldnt need to go over into next summer too much. SIGH I am just so mad that ALL my other stuff is here, safe and sound via media mail in less than a week. I would have easily paid for better shipping too, I just never had a problem before so i figured it would just arrive. And my library or the other 50 they are connected with do not carry WWE or FLL. POOH. Ok, pity party over. I am whining a lot because my 2 DS's have that stupid hand, foot, and mouth virus and they are in pain and there is nothing I can do about it. they cant even have the Magic Mouthwash for the pain because they swallow it and refuse to spit. Worst week of my life thus far. I HATE seeing them in pain and not being able to eat for days and I just have to sot here and watch them. BLAH
  17. AHHH I'm sooo jealous. I had planned to start the 5th myself but Media Mail has put a halt to that. I want my stupid books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. It looks awesome! I LOVE seeing pics of peoples spaces, although I dont have onbe of my own yet LOL probably why I like to see what could be
  19. Actually I was kind of hoping by ranting in public and freaking out, it would arrive. Someone could have set out with my mail on horseback like back in the day and it would be here already.
  20. OH I am in the same boat!! I do feel like the mother of all and it is draining. Why oh Why do I have to shoulder the responsibility of EVERYTHING down to simple cleaning? And he wonders why I am so stinking tired all the time. I really think it is physically and mentally impossible to do all that and yet we do it. He couldnt do half of what I do for one single day without dropping. I am totally with you. And it does make us into their mothers.
  21. RANT: I have sent and had stuff sent Media Mail a million times and go figure the time it has taken OVER 13 days, it is the bulk of my HS books. I am getting a little nervous because these books were sent from NJ the same day 2 others were sent from CT and I got the CT books in 4 days. The seller says not to look into the books being lost until July 6th. Then I have seen people say it can take 20 something days??? Are you kidding me? GRRRRRR....I have never had anything take over 7 days. And this is so not worth the cheap shipping. The seller only offered Media so I had to take it but now I am worried my books are lost. So much for starting school on the 5th. Rant over.
