Ha! My oldest just started learning the viola and yesterday at her lesson, the teacher was having her learn how to do the full octave in one movement of the bow. She was concentrating on the bowing rather than the fingering so it sounded AWFUL. I don't know how the teacher has the patience to stay so Zen while listening to novices all day long.
